There are 65 different spices listed on the Wikipedia page for indian spices. But out of those, according to this place, only one adds any taste to Indian food and that is red chilli powder.I ordered four different dishes for takeout. On the order page there is an option for choosing spice level. Out of the possible options - Medium, Very Mild, Mild, Spicy and Very Spicy, I chose Very Mild. I sincerely expected that since they had provided these options, that they understood what Mild and Very Mild would mean. I was wrong.All the dishes had red chilli powder (swimming in oil, which is a separate issue altogether). All the dishes were Spicy.When I called, I was told that if you don't add red chilli powder, Indian food is tasteless.So, I assume the 64 other spices listed on the Wikipedia page for Indian spices are useless? They don't add any taste according to this catering service.I remember my mom used to make a variety of different tasting dishes using roughly five things - Ginger, Garlic, Cumin, Coriander and Garam Masala. These five items can be combined in 31 different ways to get a variety of tastes.Unfortunately this place is unfamiliar with any of them.To their credit, they did offer to re-do my order within two hours (which I could not do) and the rotis did appear to be home-made.I also have to commend them for listening to me and offering a solution. this is not something that Indian businesses generally do. So kudos to them for providing an option.I just would like them to consider that there are other spices in the indian subcontinent other than red chilli powder and use them in their cooking.
Always love going there. Wouldn't go anywhere else. The hospitality and the taste is to die for. Have no words to describe the excellent personal care taken by the staff. If you haven't been here then you are really missing out. HAVE TO GO THERE AND HAVE A MEAL.
