delicious food, beautiful setting and friendly staff!

The decor of the place is nice but food was honestly mediocre. Rice was not fresh (it was like crunchy). Service-wise, one of the newer ladies was so incredibly kind and helpful. The other lady was extremely rude (from the moment we made a reservation on the phone). Literally overheard her telling another family there “I recommend you don’t come back here” when they complained about something.

Had last been to this location a couple years ago, and remembered having an enjoyable experience. I was in the area, and got a takeout order of chicken kabob, quabili palow, and a “hummus w/ veggies” appetizer.Well, to start, if you wanted to know what “hummus w/ veggies” was, look no further. It was $8, and the hummus was terrible - just a bad flavor, thick texture, and overly salty. Could have been the style, but I distinctly remember their hummus from last time and it has changed for the worst. The bread that came with the entrees was stale and cold as well.In general, this was such a disappointment, given that the chicken kabob with rice was nice, and the quabili palow was ok (however, there’s better out there). If you’re craving Afghani, I would give this place a pass and do Kabob Corner down the road.

This place is a gem, and we probably wouldn't have found it on our own. Thank goodness we had some locals to lead us here! The ambiance is so unique and comfortable. But the food! But the service! The food couldn't have been more tasty and interesting -- everything was exquisite. The owner was so attentive and truly wanted us to enjoy our meals. I will insist on going back next time I'm in the area.

Really nice Afghani/Persian food. Everything is super clean and smell great. The owner is so awesome and went above and beyond to serve every table. She really likes her restaurant and loves taking care of people. Highly recommend going there.

Nice staff and manager, clean and beautiful place, delicious food (mix of Persian, Afghan, and Middle Eastern dishes).

Was in Albany visiting family and decided to stop in and eat. The food was really really good and very flavorful! It’s a must if you live in the area or driving thru. Was trying to actually delete this review as I was reviewing the wrong restaurant….sorry. I visited the mazadar kitchen restaurant.

Delicious! The flavors are wonderful and the service impeccable. I recommend the Surf and Turf. Shrimp and Filet Mignon are sautéed in a flavorful tomato sauce with saffron rice.

We tried Mazadar for takeout. Walking in, the restaurant was beautifully decorated. The restaurant was only doing takeout and limited outdoor dining at that point, so it was really easy to find a staff member and pick up our food. We ordered a veggie samosas, chicken kebab, kadu (butternut squash), lamb biriyani, a side of naan, and firnee (rice pudding) for dessert. The chicken kebab was a reasonable but not a huge portion. The chicken was tender and had a good flavor. The kebab came with yogurt sauce and a small container of chickpeas, both of which were yummy. It also was served with a very big naan which was crunchy in some spots, soft in others, but generally good overall. The kadu was deliciously sweet, tasting more like sweet potato than squash. The mixture of squash, tomato, and yogurt sauce was very satisfying and had a lovely pureed consistency; it was marvelous mixed with rice. This was also served with more big naan. Veggie samosas were tasty, nicely fried on the outside and served with a delightful mustard sauce. The inside of the samosa was more pureed than we were used to but it worked well and tasted great. Lamb biriyani was also well-seasoned and satisfying. This was another reasonably sized but not large portion. We ordered it with medium spice and that definitely had a zing to it, tasty but definitely not mild. The lamb came bone-in, buried in the rice, so there was a little bit of digging necessary, but the meat was extraordinarily tender and well worth it. We ordered extra naan; as above, it was good, but with entrees already coming with bread, it wasn't really necessary. The firnee was a lovely end to our meal. It had a nice spongy top and was softer underneath. It was seasoned with cinnamon, but we also noticed a yummy spicy aftertaste, as well as notes of pistachio and coconut. This is a nice light dessert to finish off your meal. The prices are certainly not on the bargain end of things, but you get some delicious and rare cuisine for your money, making this a great pick for a great meal. We will happily be coming back for more!

Everything we ordered was delicious! Definitely returning for another meal. ?
