I feel like Beer bars are on the decline in general these days but High Side still brings it with the beer selection. Good variety from top notch local and regional breweries. And a great selection of candy to go. Oh by the way the food is also fantastic.

Visited this restaurant for dinner. The menu has both small plates and large plates. Small plates have quantity that can be easily shared between two. Also very easy to have a vegetarian meal by combining several small plates. Great way to taste multiple items on the menu. We ordered Tornado Fries, Bao (Whit pillowy buns) with fried chicken, Lemongrass Fried Chicken from small plates menu. All the items tasted great. However, we would like to have a bit more spicy Tornado Fries. The Lemongrass Chicken was plenty but very dry to eat. We asked for vinegar sauce and spicy mayo for dipping. We also order Spicy Dandan Noodles with Fried Tofu from the Large plates menu. it was excellent, but again not spicy at all. Finally for dessert we order Pineapple Creme Brulee. It was excellent with thick crust of sugar and custurdy brulee.
I have wanted to review this place for a while... But I really don't want it to get too busy where I can't get a seat!High Side never disappoints. My fiance and I come here a few times a month. The food is fantastic (small plates, modern Asian cuisine). They stock a well-rated, curated, rotating selection of beer on tap and in their little bottle shop. The staff is super friendly and accommodating.The location in Old Town Fairfax is always clean, but it is on the smaller side. They have 2 tables on a little patio out front; we like to sit at one of these when we bring our dog. Otherwise, we try to get a seat at the bar inside.I can't rate this place highly enough! Give them all of your business - but only when I'm not there! :-)

The taiwanese sausages, buns and fried chicken were excellent. It took me right back to being in a night market in Taipei. I had to ask the staff where their chef came from because I haven't had sausages and buns this authentic since I moved to the US. Can't wait to go back and try more.
The beer selection here is phenomenal! They cover their bases with the essentials, but I love that there are lots of unique and creative beers for the more adventurous drinker. The food is delicious as well. The owner, Jinson, is a super friendly guy and really knows his stuff! If you are in the area, you absolutely need to check this place out.
Love this place! Fantastic selection of beers- many I’ve not seen at other spots. Food is great. Tried a lot of Taiwanese dishes and a lot were quite authentic, brought me back to Taiwan. Stand out dish was by far the pork belly bao. Much more generous with meat compared to in Taiwan. Pork belly was flavorful and had good meat to fat ratio. The place has a nice vibe and is very comfortable. Bathroom has a large picture of a koala. Will be back to try more beer and food!
Great food and a really big tap list
This is our favorite place in downtown Fairfax. We always get the sweet potato fries, spicy pickles, and usually get chicken buns. The kids really like tornado fries. Of course the selling point for us is also the amazing rotating beer selection. During Covid we have been sitting outside and I hope they keep that up, because it’s really a fun to be out in the mix in a bit in downtown Fairfax.
