There has been a lot of fried chicken sandwich places popping up recently. Hangry Joe's is probably one of my favorites. To the crispiness of their chicken sandwiches and their waffle fries.I ordered the Combo 1 (Chicken Sando, Waffle Fries and a Fountain Drink) and the Fried Okra. The Chicken Sandwich was nice and crispy, and it went well with the slaw and sauce. I also really liked the waffle fries since they were crispy and seasoned. The fried okra was also crispy, I don't recommend getting it if you are not okay with the sliminess of okra.Overall, I recommend getting the Combo 1 if you like chicken sandwiches. You will not be disappointed and it is also deceptively filling!
Best chicken sandwich I've ever had!
I visited on a Tuesday evening to try this relatively new chicken place conveniently located close to a favorite eatery. The ordering kiosk proved easy to navigate, and I believe I could have placed my order with friendly attendants if I wished. The interior looks clean and well maintained. I ordered a medium heat chicken tenders and waffles along with side orders of fries, cole slaw, and an extra waffle and a peach iced tea. My food was ready in about ten minutes, and I took my trays outside to eat (the music inside struck me as a tad loud and distracting).The chicken was hot, flavorful, moist, and spiced mostly as advertised. The mildly seasoned fries were similarly hot with a welcome crunch. The side of slaw had some bite both in feel and taste and thankfully was not over dressed like some versions I have had elsewhere. The waffles were high points with the chicken: hot with a satisfying contrast of a crusty exterior and a slightly chewy interior, sweetened with some powdered sugar to counteract the spice heat from the chicken. The only letdown for me came in the form of my beverage which had an odd aftertaste that washed out any peach flavor for me. (I should note that I do like the ability to customize the sugar content.)The total bill came to just under $25 excluding tax and tip. I left feeling I received a good value for my meal with the exception of the iced tea which I would likely not have again. The food on the other hand I would have again. Two ladies gave me a warm and rather enthusiastic thank you as I returned my empty trays. I encourage those in the vicinity to try this place to get a somewhat different but high quality chicken eating experience.
Went here with a group of friends and decided we would each get a sandwich combo and choose one of the other speciality items on their menu so that we could essentially try the whole menu in one sitting. This was a whole lot of food and were not able to finish it all in one sitting, but it was extremely tasty. The Sando was quite large and the chicken was crispy, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The Korean nuggets were bigger than standard nugget sizes but also very crispy and good. The sauce they give for with the fries (their signature sauce I believe) is also very good. Overall, very delicious food and a lot of mixing flavors (savory and sweet). Will definitely be coming back in the future. The lady working the counter was also very polite and sweet. Thank you!
Was hankering for burger and fries, so we decided to have our dinner at Hangry Joe's. It was a bit crowded. We ordered their popular Nashville Chicken Sandwich (medium hot), Korean Chicken Nuggets (normal) and waffle fries. We got our food after half an hour, as it was crowded at that time. But the food taste really delish! Korean nuggets was very yummy with some sweet flavour. Chicken sandwich was so big and taste amazing. Spicy level was also perfect for me. And the waffle fries are also good. The portion of each food is really big. The most exciting thing for me is that the food is halal! Highly recommended. Will visit again and again.
Honestly some of the best chicken I’ve ever had, their Korean chicken nuggets and classic chicken sando were my favorite. The chicken is super crispy, the sauces are so good and the fries are perfectly crispy. Not to mention the owners are some of the sweetest people and always make you feel welcome. Highly recommend !!!
So I finally.got.to try this place.First if you get the sandwich that is a meal in itself. To get the combo your good for awhile.The sandwich was more then a mouthful. With the slaw, chicken and cucumber pickle like slices. They looked more like cucumbers, but the Tangiers of a pickle. The juice from the slaw mixed perfectly with the heat of the sandwich. Now I tried a similar place to Hangry Joe's. Hangry Joe's heat level is milder. I got the 2nd level. I forgot the name. The gentleman behind the counter gave me the mild spice in a cup to dip my chicken in. That was ok. It wasn't until the spice level 4 "hot" where I felt a warmth. Now maybe it was because I dipped my chicken in the spice instead of it having it cooked with the spice. That could have made a difference.The fries were crispy just how I like them.Overall, I would eat here again. Maybe just the sandwich because the meal was too filling. Try the hot spice.
Stopped by for a late lunch here last week and picked up a to go order for my partner on my way home. Food came out hot and the serving size was huge! Great fries. It was a bit greasy for me but I mean it’s fried food so that’s to be expected. Cashier was very nice. I got the sando combo and tenders combo mild per his recommendations. Give more sauce on the side is my only complaint.
This review is for the newly opened store in Annapolis, MD. Staff was friendly, food was fresh and portions were huge. Spicy means SPICY! We got medium loaded fries, my sandwich was plain (still spicy) and my boyfriends medium.. only hiccup was they gave me his sandwich by mistake.. I realized it first bite lol. ? We will return, was a good experience.
Their fries are good but their chicken sandwiches are really spicy. I’ve heard a lot about this store and to my curiosity I ordered the chicken sandwich. Oh boy, if you’re not into kinda spicy food you better try something else. This isn’t the level of spice I like. I ordered mild and yet still can’t handle it. The store isn’t that big for big crowd.
