Charged a $2 Credit Card fee without advising me of the fee. I would have paid cash if I had known. Looks like it could be a great bar other than the “hidden” fees.
lady waitress/bartender was so awesome. had these pizza tots. so goooood
Brunch was not what I expected but the a la cart menu was very good! Tucked into a shopping plaza, Blue Iguana treats locals to good food! They are famous for their botanas, so that's what I had. Very, very rich and creamy, I had it over grits instead of rice. Still very good! The tres leches cake listed on the menu was no longer a part of it, sadly. The staff was attentive and very nice. Next time I'm gonna try the shrimp and grits... Recommend!
We had Thanksgiving dinner there. Nice staff, comfortable table, easy parking, and buffet was seasonally appropriate. Food 8 out of ten. Turkey gravy was worse than my wife's, which I thought was impossible. Turkey was dry, but flavorful. I am nevertheless very grateful they offered this Thanksgiving dinner. All comments were meant to be constructive.
Very disappointed in what was once a neighborhood favorite. Upon arriving for Sunday brunch at 10:10am we found the restaurant locked and dark, despite the listed opening time of 10am on their website, apple listing, and the neon "OPEN" sign shining in their window. The several employees inside did not come to the door and did not pick up the phone when I called. We will not be going back.
Dope place with good people there
Not sure how this place is so highly rated (4.3 stars at the time of posting this review). The menu is EXPENSIVE for no reason - nothing special. I have no idea why a buffalo chicken sandwich is $16 with french fries. The happy hour drinks were weak. When my friend ordered a tall boy PBR happy hour menu, the waiter brought him a regular sized can.The crab cake was okay, again super average, could have used more seasoning, nothing special. It was clear most of their food is frozen.
This is a wonderful little spot tucked away in Fairfax. It has a very local feel, the happy hour options are plentiful and go late enough that you don't have to rush after a work day to get the deals.Billy was my server. He was fantastic and obviously a local favorite.Dinner was a highlight, though the appetizers I got were only average (mozzarella sticks and fried mushrooms).
I almost never post reviews but I HAD to this time. Blue Iguana is bait-n-switching its customers. Their Wednesday Seafood Special online menu says you can get a combo of 1lb snow crab legs plus 1lb of peeled shrimp for $18.98. FALSE! They give you HALF of that - 1/2 lb each of crab legs and shrimp. I asked the waiter why you only get half now. He said the online prices I saw were "before the pandemic". It gets worse. There is a Fair Lakes neighborhood publication that I just received a few days ago, which has a full page Blue Iguana ad saying the combo is only $16.98. Oh, and now they also slip in a 2% credit card processing fee.I live right around the corner and was looking forward to returning to Blue Iguana for the Wednesday Seafood Special, for the first time since the pandemic began. I had intended to perhaps make this a weekly dinner spot. I can't possibly dine there now. They have lost my business forever, which would potentially be hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars over time.I can't imagine this place staying in business with such deception and gouging of its customers. Very sad!
Purely in terms of food I enjoyed it and there was a wide variety of cuisines to chose from. It was a little pricey for the quality and quantity. But, if considering it's also bar I would suggest it's food.
