Restaurant was recommended to me while in town for work. We arrived a little before 6pm. We were immediately seated. The waitress was friendly. I ordered chicken fried chicken and my coworker order steak. I was not impressed with the CFC. I’ve had better at Cracker Barrel. Too much breading. I normally get grilled chicken & should have stayed with that. The grilled asparagus was yummy. My coworker enjoyed her steak. Overall it wasn’t a horrible experience; however, I have no idea why folks rave about the place. I wouldn’t come back on my own. Only if I needed to with coworkers.
The service and atmosphere were great; however, the most important part of going out to eat is the food and the food was horrendous. I took my family along with another family for brunch. The bacon tasted like rubber, the scrambled egg (literally just one) tasted like rubber, and I could have made a better bloody mary at my own house; I feel like they got the mix from Food Lion and added some cheap vodka to it. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone, ever.
By myself, I went to The Farmhouse. I found it very inviting. I sat at the bar, and was immediately greeted. Lots of drink options. They offered both a bar menu and a dinner menu. I had a French dip that was very good. The service was the most noteworthy. Very friendly, very attentive. Always kinda weird to be solo, however I felt very comfortable.
We visited the Farmhouse on a stopover in Christiansburg, VA on a return trip to Tennessee. Our experience was outstanding from beginning to end. The Calamari appetizer was lightly breaded and quite good. One of us had the Rainbow Trout which was sautéed in a butter and capers sauce, while the other had the Salmon which was grilled in a sweet sauce with candied pecans. Both were superbly prepared and excellent. Both of us had roasted carrots as a side, which were a great accompaniment to the main dishes. Some of the reviews we’ve seen complained about the quality of the service staff. I can definitely assure you that was not an issue for us. In fact, our server, Malinda (NOT Melinda!) was very attentive and friendly to boot. All in all, highly recommended!
Out of the way, cute place caters to both fancy date night or tired travelers. Food was ok for lunch. Chipotle ckn sandwich didn’t have much chipotle bite. Fries and crab cake sandwich were great. Chef special green beans were tasty but mushy that was disappointing. Floors on bar area were sticky for some reason.
Wanted to like it. Interesting, unique layout and design, cool music. However, on the Saturday night I ate there, I left with impression that place has a quality control issue. Our waiter was invisible (barely visited our booth); can't remember last time I had such a non-attentive waiter. One hour wait from moment appetizer finished to receiving dinner (no guidance or updates by waiter), I eventually spoke to manager who apologized for long wait. My filet mignon was overcooked and hard, entrees for two others in my party were average (long waits followed by great food are redeeming; not the case here). Negative dining experience. We were happy to get out of there.
Visited a little while ago and got steak with my family and friends in this beautiful restaurant, the food was great and our waiter Matthew was funny and very accommodating. Would definitely come back next time I'm in town.
The Farmhouse never disappoints! The courtyard is so relaxing and our meals (crab cakes and salmon) were delicious! Of course, the mimosas set the stage for an enjoyable evening and Drake was extremely personable and attentive from the time we arrived until our departure. Always enjoy our time here!
First and last visit here Food was way over priced for the quality and quantity you received. The service was very slow as we were there for 2 hours 1 hour which was waiting for the appetizer Our steaks were tough and not cooked as ordered and the chicken fingers for the kids were over cooked
Our family drove 50 miles from Bonsack for Fathers Day lunch. We arrived at 12 noon, our reservation time, and was promptly seated. The Farmhouse website advertises Lunch/ Dinner menu on Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 11am - closing. Also there is a very limited Bruch menu on Sunday from 11am until 3 pm. When our waiter arrived he brought only brunch menus, we asked for the Lunch menu and was told it would not be available until 3pm?? We didn’t drive that far for breakfast, needless to say everyone was very disappointed!!! We ordered Brunch and 45 minutes later we received our food. Food quality was average at best. 2 people ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs. There was VERY little gravy on the biscuits. Certainly for $12 you expect more. We tried to order dessert, they were out of Chocolate Cake. VERY disappointing experience, and probably our last visit.
