My husband loves the food but me on the other hand I don't care too much for the fried chicken. I always order the chicken dinner..I've had their chicken Dinner a few times.Sometimes it's delicious, sometimes it's very very tough to chew almost as if it's been cooked and left sitting in cooking oil or something all day then reheated .It was not at all good. Then on one occasion I bit into the chicken it was bloody red inside but the outside was fully cooked and crunchy. The bread/rolls,candied yams and Potato salad are always delicious but I think the food is very overpriced..By the way the cake is OMG!! AMAZING
Mac n cheese was horrible!! The macaroni was extremely overcooked causing it to be soggy and disgusting. The cabbage was over cooked and lacked flavor. Corn is straight out of the can. The fried shrimp are the type you buy already precooked in a box. I thought the shrimp would at least be breaded and fried in-house. The only items that were good between the two entrees were the fried fish and the carrot soufflé. The coconut pineapple cake was good but the sweet potato pie needed some more love. ($6.25 for a slice of sweet potato pie is RIDICULOUS!) The food is overpriced for the quality. I’ve had better food at a hospital. Needless to say, I will never order again.
When I’m in town visiting, I love to stop for their homemade pound cake (please add icing back), and occasionally their wings. The Staff is great, the problem is parking, hopefully that will get resolved.
Not sure if the quality of the food had to do with the time we ordered (about an hour or so before closing) but the food was not good. I ordered the fried chicken, yams, cabbage and cornbread. The chicken was flavorless. The cabbage was over cooked and flavorless. The cornbread was spongy instead of moist and had a weird aftertaste like it had been frozen or refrigerated and then reheated. The yams were the closest thing to being edible and even they weren’t great. I didn’t finish any of the food. The prices are good but the food sadly was not. We won’t be returning.
Food is great visited several times had pork chops smothered in gravy and onions yummy delicious.....almost as good as mine lol I recommend to. Every one staff cooks owners great polite courteous ....down home good cooking and not expensive...and to top it off you get full ....although I wanted more....and the deserts are scrumptious ....I give 100 stars....keep up the delicious great meals I will be back to try everything on the menu....
I Love this soul food place, the people are friendly, courteous, and always on point. The Food is delicious, the very first time trying BBQ pulled pork in my life was at Mr. B's Oh my Goodness...I love it. Thank you for this Soul Food Restaurant!! Oh, the Desserts are made with love...Banana pudding, Chocolate Chocolate cake, strawberry cake, bread pudding, lemon meringue pie, sweet potato pie!!! Yes everything is love!!
Ordered online at 6 p.m. Told that it would be ready at 6:45 p.m. My daughters have been sitting in the restaurant waiting for over 50 minutes. It is now 7:35 p.m. and our food is still not ready. When asked when it would be ready, the staff responded “I don’t know.” Really? Kind of stuck paying for it at this point because we paid online, or I just would have told my kids to walk out of the place. Pathetic customer service. Absolutely the last time we will be ordering from this place.
Always a good experience. Food is always hot and fresh. I order through the app and my order is always ready (I do pick up cause who finna pay a delivery fee).
My husband's cousin in Petersburg told us about Mr B's. We tried it and fell in love. So much so that we went 3 days in a row. Everything we have eaten is absolutely delicious and top notch (catfish, smothered pork chop, chop steak, meatloaf and most definitely the carrot souffle). Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They even know my name when I come in. You must go. You will love Mr B's
*update*I changed the amount of stars because even though the food wasn’t spectacular the owner responded and was very professional and promising. I understand sometimes the owner can’t control every single meal that is served and I respect that and will give them another try, maybe earlier in the day.I was extremely disappointed when I finally tried Mr. Bs. I’ve heard so many great things about this restaurant and was looking forward to trying it out for awhile but they didn’t live up. I ordered the ribs which were extremely over cooked and tough/dry. The Mac and cheese was literally dripping grease and had no flavor, I’ve never had noodles feel mooshy while keeping their shape extremely weird, I took one bite and gagged. And the meatloaf was dry. It was like the food was prepared that morning and just reheated before being served for dinner. The only thing that was edible was the mash potatoes. We spent $40 for two meals and a side and only ate mash potatoes we ended up throwing our two meals away. It was very overpriced to be “reheated” food. We ordered our food around 6pm I’ve read really good reviews, maybe from lunch before the food had time to sit and dry out?
