My wife called yesterday to see what they had on the menu because we were in the mood for Filipino food.. the owner answered the phone.. when my wife asked what they currently had on the line.. the lady responded with 3 items.. when my wife asked what else she had, she hung up on her.. my wife called back to give her the benefit of the doubt that maybe they got disconnected.. but it was obvious that she had hung up on her.. when my wife asked again what else they had.. the lady rudely responded by saying that "I already told you everything" what else do you want to know? Wow!! Talk about straight rudeness towards your customers.. at that point, I told my wife to not bother with that place anymore and that there are many other Filipino restaurants that serve good food with way better customer service.. my mother in law is Filipino and had order food from there before and that is one of the reasons why we wanted to give it a try.. "Never again" I will never give this place a single dime of my money considering how rude she is.. My wife is Filipino but does not speak Tagalog.. but I can almost guarantee you that if she had called and spoken Tagalog from the beginning.. the attitude would have been completely different! I gave 1 Star.. but that was the lowest you can go.. people work so hard for their money to receive poor service like this.. Just not worth your time or money to go there.. Don't waste your time here.. go elsewhere! You'll receive way better customer service!!
The owner is very rude. I called and asked what was on the menu for the day. She did not give me much information on what was cooked and she sounded irritated that I even called. She told me there was Lumpia, sausage and fish. When I asked if there was something else, she hung up on me. I thought we got disconnected. So I called back and said we got disconnected. Then she rudely told me there is nothing more on the menu and hung up on me. The only reason I called because I was driving from Dam Neck and my mother had food from her restaurant and I thought was good. But after that encounter, I am not going to give someone who is rude my business. I am surprise this place is in business with the way she treats customers. I ended up going to Ihaw Ihaw on Princess Anne and Lynnhaven, at least they know how to treat their customers. Maymar on Pleasant Valley is another place that treats their customer well. Oriental Cuisine Kainan their food is also delicious and never had issues. Only at Renee's another place where you are treated well. Susan's Kitchenette Filipino great food here also and they treat you well too! Many options to choose from and not have to put up with rudeness. FYI the food that I had was good but the attitude the owner gives you is another issue by the way I am Filipino, I just don't speak the language.
Definitely some of the best Filipino food I've had in the area. Lots of food for the price, great pancit and my favorite lumpia.
I’m a regular customer at Winnie’s so after reading some of these bad reviews, it got me baffled. When I come to Winnie’s, the owner is always welcoming and smiling. Not to mention the food taste really good. Either people are judging the book by the cover or they’re just too sensitive to Filipino spice personality lol
It was decent. Sure the woman wasn’t exactly welcoming, but she wasn’t rude either. She gave me a little extra encouragement to get more than one entree and I’m really glad she did. The pork adobo was really good. I didn’t care for my other entree, but that’s just taste preference. It had a fish taste and I don’t like fish. Hey I didn’t know what most the stuff was so that’s what happens when you just point at a random dish. Pancit was a 7/10. If it was possible I’d give a 3.5, but not a 3 so she gets a 4 from me. The pork adobo can have the credit for that.
Love Winnies. Food is great and owner is very personable. If I have a question on the food since I'm not fillipino, she takes her time to explain it to me. My sister and I are regulars.
Family owned Filipino restaurant love the beef stew. Have to slow down it's addictive.
I was looking for a Filipino Restaurant and I saw this one listed. When I phoned whoever answered was very short and almost unfriendly/rude. I thought maybe it was me but when I read the reviews I knew I was correct in my perception that this was not the place I wanted to spend my money. So glad for reviews. I would give this place a minus zero.
I would leave no stars if I could. I have gone there 3 times and each time the lady who runs the restaurant was beyond rude. I will not being going back! Yall want Filipino food? Go to maymar on Battlefield! Way better!
Food is not bad but WINNIE ,if she is the owner who serves the food is VERY VERY RUDE! She has no manners, she was telling another customer how picky I am and told the person how she wishes customers are not picky nor asks a lot of questions and I can hear her as I sit in the restaurant eating lunch- WHO DOES THAT?! She clearly needs some CUSTOMER SERVICE training (or just learn GOOD MANNERS and HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE RIGHT!). And That is coming from someone who works in customer service. I didn't argue not worth wasting my energy on someone who clearly is INSENSITIVE. I know there's another filipino restaurant nearby- just go there! Unless the treatment to customer changes, or the person who serves you changes, this restaurant is NOT WORTH RUINING YOUR AMAZING DAY.
