I love the Bayville!
Haven't eaten the food yet, but I'm confused how sandwiches can take almost 40 minutes to make. Should've just gone to Jason's Deli on the other side like we usually do.*Edit*Got the food, definitely cold cuts with cold bacon. No reason that it should've taken so long since nothing was getting "prepared", even with the number of people coming through. The good itself was pretty mediocre. The bread crusts destroyed the roof of my mouth.Definitely my first and last visit here.
It is always a pleasant experience popping into this place. Food is fresh and delicious, their chicken caesar salad never disappoints (those croutons are bomb). Had a beer on tap - it was nicely poured and I could tell the line was clean! Can’t wait to go back!
Taste is my absolute favorite sandwich shop in the area. They have the best lunch salads as well! Pricing is about average and quality is amazing! Everything tastes very fresh. O definitely recommend the Inlet or the Princess Anne. Both are amazing sandwiches. Also look for the seasonal specials.
I typically visit the Suffolk location but was in the area and decided to this location. Big Mistake. It wasn't crowded and my order was taken quickly. While waiting I obtained my drinks and chips and looked at some of their other products. I started noticing that people who ordered after me were getting their to go orders or dine orders. I finally asked the cashier who took my order where was my food. She goes to the back and starts talking to some of the folks in the back and she points to the screen. She returns and says I'm sorry they are making it now and you can have a cookie for your wait. I told her that I didn't want a cookie I wanted my food. I ordered two chicken salad sandwhiches one with no bacon add onion. Of course the sandwhiches were not marked and both contained bacon. Both of the sandwhiches were sloppily made as I know they were made in a rush. The second reason for my 1 star was my observance of food safety. The cashier who helped me had extremely long hair. Someone ordered soup. Prior to the cashier scooping the soup out of the pot she put her hair in a scrunchie and proceeded to scoop the soup without washing her hands. I am not a safety inspector but I am sure that there is some protocol in place when an employee touches their hair prior to handing of unpackaged food. The Chesapeake location has to step up their game to be in the league of the Suffolk location. I won't be back.
The food was overpriced for the quality in my opinion. I do love the gift options that they carry. I also appreciate that most of what I saw was sourced from Virginia. I love that. I had a couple hairs in my cobb salad and the tomatoes were mealy, the chicken parm sandwich my husband had was bland, and the Brunswick stew left much to be desired. I had a better experience at the Norfolk location.
if you catch them on a good day, the food is great. most of the time, my sandwiches have seemed quickly thrown together, lettuce has been old, avocado has been brown, condiments SLATHERED onto sandwich to the point that it's just gross. overall, I just expect higher quality food for their prices.
Love Taste, but this location is always closing whenever they please. Get all the way there and they have a sign on the door that they’re closed. This has happened on multiple occasions at this point. This is never the case with other Taste locations, so I’m not sure what’s going on here.Otherwise, the food is always good, if/when they’re open!
The staff is very friendly and attentive & the food was delicious. My boyfriend said his sandwich was the best sandwich he's had in a long time!
We were staying next door at the Hyatt and I could see Taste from my window. We decided to walk over and try it. There were 7 of us. What a cool place! It is counter service but they have beer and wine on tap, as well as a market with take and bake meals, wine, and various drinks and snacks. We all ordered a variety of sandwiches and they have route 11 chips. Everything was so fresh and tasty. After lunch, we bought pimento cheese, crackers, and a bottle of wine for later. That was the best pimento cheese I’ve ever had. I love this place and will definitely return when visiting the area. Someone in our party thought there might be a location where we live in Richmond. I sure hope so bc I’d love to go again.
