My spouse loves the fish tacos from here, we get them often for take out. We got tacos for take out too and they were soggy, but we thought we would dine in to see how they were. The tacos and chimichanga (dine in) were very good, my spouse got the fajitas for dine in and said while it was good it wasn’t great. The white sauce isn’t that good IMO, but my spouse said they liked it. I don’t drink alcohol, my spouse had a margarita and said it was good. The staff was extremely nice, and the restaurant was very clean. I would definitely go back for the tacos and chimichanga, and my spouse can’t get enough of the fish tacos.
Dined here twice in the last week. The service the first day was less than stellar, I think they were understaffed; but the food was so good we decided to come back for Cinco de Mayo a couple days later! The service on our second visit was stellar and the food was just as good the second time.I recommend the Shrimp Chimichanga. It contains crab meat and the shrimp almost tastes like lobster. It’s a huge portion, even at lunch. In fact, I think the meal was exactly the same except it was three or four dollars cheaper at lunchtime! The margaritas on the rocks are heavy on the ice; so order with care.Helpful tip: white sauce is not served with the chips by default; but is available upon request. It’s really good!
I was really disappointed. Usually El Loro is one of my favorite restaurants, however, I had such a terrible experience that I don't think I will ever come back. We walked on and got seated immediately which was great. The server came around shortly after and delivered chips and salsa. Usually the pair are always a treat however the chips were soaked with oil that when you broke them they glistend and tasted off. The salsa was just off, it was warm and almost felt like it was the last bit of salsa scraped from a jar that was left out and forgotten about. I chalked it up to them being just busy so I ordered some queso dip to compensate. It seemed like the server took an unusually long time to bring out the dip and when she did it was a watery mess. I tried the dip but the queso just wouldn't stick to the chips and would just pour off like water leaving the chip with no dip flavor and just a soft soggy mess. It could have been just that the chips where so oilly or that the cheese had been either cut with too much milk or the restaurant decided to cut corners to save on cost and cut the cheese with water or a combination. Serve came around to refill our drinks once but seemed to be more focused on another group. The food didn't take too long to come out, however I ate less than a third of it and decided I needed to leave. I had gotten Chorio Pollo and everything looked fine but the chicken just seemed off. The cheese was once again extremely watery and when mixed with the beans still couldn't be picked up with the chips for a makeshift dipe. I had to try to spread as much cheese on the chicken before wrapping it the chicken in a tortilla and it just felt like I was eaten a chicken covered in milk. We waited for a bit for the server to swing by and asked for the check. She saw that I had barely touched the food and I could tell she knew I wasn't very happy with it but didn't ask about what was wrong. When asked for the check the server ran off and did several other things before bring us the check. All in all I was so disappointed after a long days work that I just decided to not go back and chalk it up to the restaurant cutting corners. If youre reading this review to make a decision I would recommend Broncos down the street on Volvo/Kempsvile, Rancho Grande, or head out to Jessie's in Ocean View.
Always great. Service friendly and quick. Food was good. Price reasonable.
The food is delicious and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. I've had a good experience when dining at El Loro. Excellente.
Just placed inside “To Go” order. Food here is okay. It’s a local place so it’s convenient. Returned home with food and these are the sauces. If I had known the sauces were half full would not have left a tip!
A true Mexican Restaurant. Good food and service
My favorite Mexican place in Chesapeake, food is always amazing and they are super accommodating. Our party went the other night, my son wanted the enchiladas Supreme, but no tortillas, served over rice, my husband wanted extra fries in his burrito, I needed my meal without onions, and my cousin in law needed corn tortillas instead of flour. They had zero issues making the changes, and all our meals were delicious and made as we requested. I recommend this restaurant to everyone
It wasnt good, wasn't bad overall.Prices were ok. I ordered the chicken fajitas - no peppers, extra onions. They did not give me extra onions. It was otherwise tasty, but nothing special. While the waiter was nice enough I'm not sure how good his grasp of English is. Not only did I not get extra onions with the fajitas, when we ordered the fresh guac with extra red onions, it was clear there were not extra red onions in there. Plus for fresh guacamole, it was actually pretty bland. (For fresh guacamole I prefer La Perilla, they make it table side and it is super easy to customize so it is exactly how you like it.)My friend ordered the flan and let me have a bite -the flan was actually quite good. Overall if my friend wants to go there again (she would probably give it five stars, she loves El Loro) I would be be ok going there again, but I will not return otherwise.
You can find good Mexican food just about any where, but you'll find fantastic Mexican food here!
