Normally, this is the one Cookout that is my go-to in the Hampton Roads area, however they really missed the mark todayI understand with staffing shortages due to COVID, that wait times at drive-ins have increased, but if you’re not going to staff the second drive-thru line, MAYBE consider putting a sign up on the speaker or something saying the lane is CLOSED instead of having people/cars line up in the drive-through lane, wait 8 minutes during lunch time/rush hour, before they decide to pull off since nobody greeted them on the speaker.I decided to park and go inside to place my order, and the attendant for the second window decides to walk up right then telling the cashier there was no one waiting in the second drive-thru lane, while helping the car that was waiting behind me originally. Do better…
YOU'RE MISSING OUT if you've never been! Everything is high quality and delicious and the service is quick! The menu is not just another burger experience. You can get your burger toppings in a named theme or fully custom You can pick two sides with your burger combo tray. They have regular AND cajun fries, not only that, but they have very creative other sides: fried cheese bites, savory and full textured chicken wrap (yes!), delicious hush puppies, and others. They have a pulled BBQ sandwich. For drinks they have the usual but also Cheerwine and about 30 kinds of milkshakes. Two drive thru lanes (that criss cross). Awesome!
The drive thru mic was low and could barely hear cashier. Got a chicken sandwich that looked like two small pieces were put together. I asked for seasoned fries for my two sides and it was one order. On top of that it looked like the seasoning was accidentally dumped on my fries but left there. The Cookout's in NC are better. First and last time coming to this one in Chesapeake.
Cookout is a great value chain when traveling in the South. When we visited in April 2022 this location was disappointing. The drive through cashier, Ykerra, messed up our order multiple times and kept requiring corrections. We then asked her at the end to read back the order (4 Big Double Trays) and her response was "this is way too long I ain't doin that".In the end the our bill ended up being $6 higher than expected (20% higher). Was very disappointing experience that fails to live up to the cook out standards.
Usually this place is good. But tonight it wasn’t. Our soft drinks were very watery like the syrup bag should have been changed out for a fresh one, the third tray I ordered was not at all what I ordered but just a duplicate of the second tray that was ordered, and the hush puppies on the first tray were burnt and the cheese bites were bordering on being burnt too. I didn’t how much they messed up my order until I had gotten home and was handing it out to my family.Like I said usually this place is good but tonight was just straight bad. I would have said only 1 tray out of the 3 ordered didn’t have any problems but that isn’t true because the soft drinks were all watered down.Not to mention while I was in the drive thru line some random guy on foot was able to cut in and place an order. That’s no only a safety hazard but also disrespectful towards everyone else that had been waiting in line. The person at the drive thru shouldn’t have even taken his order.
Normally love this place, but the past couple times I’ve been, something has always been wrong. Either missing item, made incorrectly, or rung up wrong. They really should fix their microphone for ordering too… Went today 2/15 and two items made incorrectly. Everything was rung up right, but I had a bbq sandwich and a cheddar style burger made wrong. I had fries and cheese bites for dinner. It sucks because there is no system to where I can get something replaced or get refunded without having to drive back today, which I do not feel like doing. Even if we had noticed things were wrong before leaving, I would have had to go through the drive through again to get it fixed because they won’t open up the dining area (which I wish they’d do. It’s been two years. It’s time). I really wish the people making food would get their stuff together. I’m getting tired of food being made wrong every single time I go to this location.I also have been having issues with consistency on how much they give you for your sides in the trays. I normally order cheese bites. This time I got 5, other times I’ll get 10 (which is what I think I should be getting anyway). This is another issue this store needs to figure out.
Gotta say this one right here always slaps. If you are looking for a quick bit and are lazy to cook these guys offer all your comfort food at very reasonable price. They have an amazing selection of shakes as well
I originally ordered a homestyle burger. Order was wrong. I wasn't given the correct main entrée. I got a chicken sandwich combo/tray. I went back, and exchanged it for a burger which is what I originally ordered, drove off figured we cant mess this up right? Nope, the topings weren't right. So I decided to call the number listed which is apparently head quarters. I attempted to relate in order to the lady but I kept having to repeat myself.I'm not going back a third time but I won't be returning to this one if I go back.Please work on attentive listening and customer service at "headquarters". If someone comes back please have a manager check and make sure the right things go on the items and to correct cars.
This place is a godsend and has been the go-to for food after midnight. The lines can be pretty long but the Cook Out team does their best to get things moving along. If they do mess up an order (which isn't unusual for any fast food places by the way), they're pretty good about giving you the right order to correct their mistake. If this happens to you, have some compassion, especially if you're the one buying two trays 30 minutes before closing.Shout out to the Cook Out crew for the great food and great service. Wish they had a tip jar so I could tip (ya know, for showing up at 1:30am).
I usually love going to this cookout. I was on my home from North Carolina and skipped two cookouts to go to this location cause I knew they would get my order right. First, there was no cajun chicken sandwich for my huand so he didn't order. Next, I ordered myself a burger with cheese and bbq onion and pickles. When I got home I noticed there was no cheese on my hamburger and the patty was over cooked and shrunk in size.
