Excellent experience with our waiter Andrew. Had our 20th anniversary dinner here. We were greeted with 2 sparkling wines when we arrived. We ordered 3 starters which were so good that we didnt grab any photos. The bone marrow with escargot was the star and the lamb carpaccio was runner up. The green beans were ok but would pick something else next time. Overall the starters were a good portion and well prepared. The wine selection is outstanding. There are 8 or so of each Red or White available by the glass and a ton of bottles ranging from $60 to $1200.Cocktails were all great. Most had a bit more sweetness than I cared for but were still tasty. My favorite was the dealers choice which I dont remember the name for but gave preference to bourbon and dry.Our entrees were the Scallops and Beef Tenderloin. Both were tender beyond belief and went well with the sides they came with.We will be happy to return here and try more of the menu.
Excellent. Food was great. Staff was very accommodating. Atmosphere was excellent.
Where to begin, this had to be one of the top 10 meals we easily have ever had at a restaurant. The salmon and tuna tartars are excellent, and along with the artichoke dip, the beef tenderloin, and the scallops, rounded out an exquisite and fine dining experience for us. We each had 2 cocktail drinks apiece, and they are creative, tasty, and some of the best mixed drinks around. Choosing the dealer's choice drinks was our best bet! Our waiter Conner, nailed both of our palates! He was fantastic. He gave us excelent recommendations, was witty, fun, knowledgeable, and a delight to be with. And the hazelnut macaroon with chocolate was both decadent and delicious!! We will definitely be back and and this experience was easily 10 out of 10 or us! Well done Alley Light, well done!
The Alley Light has never disappointed me over years I’ve been going. Staff is top tier and every experience is uniquely excellent. It’s my favorite spot in Charlottesville and the place we always bring out of town guests. Flat out the best drinks in town.
Great dining experience. Atmosphere is so smooth and chill. Great ambiance. Perfect spot for a romantic dinner. Impressive wine list and handmade cocktails. Knowledgeable server and bartender helped pair drinks with dinner and apps.
This restaurant is hard to find, but worth the hunt. The radish, butter, and bread small plate and mushroom risotto were delicious The beef tenderloin melts in your mouth. Our server, Dallas, was attentive without being overbearing. 5 stars all around.
If you haven't been, it can be tricky to find, but worth the effort.Nice atmosphere. Servers were very attentive. The bartenders are the real deal. Don't just order a glass of wine or a beer,.get out of your comfort zone and try a mixed drink.
It's a speakeasy style restaurant with a wonderful bar but an even better tapas menu. Remember the name - it's the only way you will find the place - there is no signage. Sometimes you pay $100 per person and say "We spent $100 per person? Really?" This is a place where you will say "That's the best meal I've had in [fill in the blank]. It cost $100 per person? That makes sense." The flavors were great; sometimes delicate and sometimes bold. There are interesting craft cocktails. The overall experience is quite worthwhile.
Way out of the way, friends introduced us to the amazing upstairs haven. Great plates to share and drinks that are a throwback to the SpeakEasy era this is modeled after. Service is personal and they know how to instantly make you feel like a regular. Make the time to get to know this gem... But don't tell too many people ?
Our first time there, wonderful experience. Connor our server made it even better. The food was AMAZING, drinks were top notch! Can’t wait to go back… it will be worth the 4.5 hr drive from Philadelphia
