Homemade pasta is so good and unique, and I highly recommend everyone to try their specials, truly delightful menu. The bruschetta and burrata are awesome, and we loved their meatball pasta and bucatini all amatriciana.
Most authentic pasta in Virginia. This cozy, unassuming Italian spot in Charlottesville is a great spot for wine, cocktails and Italian food. The menu was full of good choices, but we opted to split some Bruschetta & Pasta all’amatriciana; it was the best spaghetti I’ve had since leaving Italy a few months before. The pasta was fresh, tasted homemade, and was cooked to perfection. The sauce was flavorful, and with the right amount of spice for all’amatriciana. The portion was decently sized, and left room for additional courses. The bruschetta was a big bougie, but very flavorful.
Fantastic take on Italian fare. Definitely make it a unique culinary experience with a burst of flavor that you rarely find. Had the ricotta gnocchi, razor clams, and capellini fruti Del Mar. Each dish was fantastic and much more complex flavor than typical Italian, which is what I look for with Italian cuisine.
In "downtown" strip of former large homes convert to restaurants on Hinton Ave, hard to find at night since the painted sign is not li. Outdoor dining and large front room dining but all entries are through ally accessible side entrance into the bar area in the rear of the former house. The bar area is large and always packed with small table a seating at the bar for dinner is not unusual. Usually packed with U of Virginia students, especially from Friday and Saturday, noise level at its highest which makes it hard to hear normal conversations. Bartenders and wait staff are well trained and service is only slow do to the volume of guest. High priced meals and drinks are worth the price and wait. All pasta is made in house except the fine "angel hair" capellini. The Limoncello cheesecake is a treat but the homemade Limoncello liquor is disappointingly sharp and not near the original from Italy.
Their farrotto is just amazing! All of their dishes are fantastic but this one, everyone at the table raved over. Highly recommend this restaurant. Every dish was perfectly prepared, flavorful and exquisite (gnocchi was the second fave). You could tell the chef is really inventive. Can't wait to come back again!
We had dinner on our anniversary and the meal and the service were outstanding. Reservations were easy on resy.com and we were seated on time. The dinner was $$$, so for us this is a special occasion restaurant. Highly recommend.
Reasonably priced. INSANE cocktails. INSANE food. I'd 100% go back here. This place was so good. Dress nice. Enjoy the vibes.
A lovely and comfortable dining room. Our waiter was Clay who was outstanding! This was our third visit it has become our go to restaurant when we visit Charlottesville. They always offer a totally delicious menu and tonight's special dish was a lobster dinner. It was wonderful.
First with an opportunity for Tavola to improve: Our table spent over $400 and we were chatting after the tab had been paid. The restaurant had cleared out, it was about 9:15 and over half of the tables were empty. Then we were “checked in” on by a hostess with wine still in our glasses. She said there was another party to have our table and we were escorted to the crowded back bar to finish chatting and our wine. So tacky—the other party could have easily been sat at another open table.Other than that, I love the food and atmosphere of the restaurant and we had very solid service. And it’s great that they take reservations now.
The Food was amazing! The Burrata is definitely a must.. Our host for the evening was Caleb and he was a pleasure to talk to. The atmosphere is very cozy. I loved it! We are not from here, but I feel like we may take another day to eat here again before we leave.
