I will NEVER give them another dime of my money. I have no idea the name of the lady who answers the phone but she is extremely RUDE. I'm talking abut yelling at me and cussing at me! All simply because I called soon after I picked up my order, to tell them I did not like the food. (honey chicken with fried rice and crab rangoon) and all of it tasted awful. not even close to what its supposed to taste like. She's talking over me and not even letting me explain anything at all! I began to record the FIFTH phone conversation because she HANGS UP and says to STOP BOTHERING HER AND STOP CALLING??? I was simply trying to ask if it was okay to bring the food back after I got off work to get my money back, because I had came during my lunch break! She even went as far to say "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" as I was talking! She's telling me I am lying and that I am not at work because I had just came in there (as if people cant go back to work) and telling me to bring the food back so they can show it to the chef so they can see if anything is wrong with it because "its not their fault or their problem that i don't like it" …. I can type so much just from the short experience with them but I will end it here,. Will update to let you all know if I got my money back!
TAKE TIME TO READ THIS…I was recommended that they were very good and authentic im the kind of person that doesn’t care about the price I just want really good food which is true the food is delicious. However. There are two disrespectful women there they will talk over you to not give you time to explain your order and that made them mistake my order and what I ordered was super simple. (General Toso chicken) they gave me tofu instead and yes they gave me the right order but it was a lunch special the tofu general Toso was dinner so they did not give me the other half of my money they also refused to serve me once I was waiting around for my order inside the restaurant after paying. I had enough of the attitude with them honestly each time I went I got that do what y’all want they lost me for sure
Definitely my go-to place for SPICY Chinese food! I’m so happy to find such an authentic place in C-ville :)
Been eating there since they opened, and am still a fan. Hopefully they will bring back a couple of my favorite dishes, which were put on hold during the pandemic. As to those who wrote about slow or bad service: Not my experience at all - on the dozen plus year’s I’ve eaten there my service has been prompt, courteous, and friendly. Those comments amazed me, and made me wonder who made them.
Delicious as usual! Our go to order is the spicy fish and shrimp as well as scallion bubble pancake.
If you want more authenic asian dishes..dine here. Their chili sauce is super delicous and their crispy shrimp amd basil chicken are divine.
This is my favorite stop for lunch when in town. Granted, there are only about 3 meals I ever order and I NEVER order the American part of the menu. General Tso's, etc. is NOT Chinese food, and I've heard people comment that their American menu, that stuff you see on the lunch specials for the most part here, is just OK. These folks know how to make actual Chinese food, so it stands to reason their offerings that you can get at any takeout joint for Americans will not match up to the 99% of "Chinese" restaurants catering to the American palette. My wife still loves this place, even though her favorite meal, a ginger based fish dish, is often served with next to zero ginger! They may not understand her when she asks for "LOTS OF GINGER"...they may think she is asking for no ginger...or something...Like I said, they seem to be actually Chinese! Some restaurants have been made paranoid by customers' seasoning sensitivities. I'm looking for hot and powerful in my Chinese food, some folks are looking for bland and sweet...and I'm so sorry for them!I remember being told that Peter Chang was a chef here and taught much before he moved on. When THAT restaurant opened in town, it became our favorite immediately, but has gone downhill (he's probably long gone) and we haven't been back in a couple years. Taste of China is the only place I go for Chinese food on the 29 corridor north of Charlottesville now.
Definitely avoid eating here!It will be the beginning of your nightmare. The dining experience is very poor. I have never seen such a bad service staff. She is very arrogant, discriminates against guests, has a very bad attitude, and even accuses and abuses guests, just because my three boy was sprinkled with water, and even though we blamed the child and took the child out of the restaurant, she lost her temper and venomously accused me and the children, and accused us of not taking the children to dine-in in the future. I am really very angry, no restaurant or public venue has ever received such treatment because of children's inadvertent negligence! The dishes are also very general, but expensive! I will never eat again, it's so unfriendly to children! I really think we shouldn't have children! What a terrible experience! I will never eat again!
Terrible customer service. No one greeted me at the door they just looked at me and made hand gestures without saying a word. They rarely check on you at your table and act as if you making simple requests (such as needing a straw or a refill) is a burden on them. The food is alright like 2.5 out of 5 stars and doesn’t come close to making up for their lack of service. The look of the restaurant is archaic and the feel of the restaurant is pretty depressing. I’ve lived in Charlottesville for close to 30 years and I cannot recall service as bad as what I experienced here. I do not recommend eating here and I will never come here again.
I been in this restaurant twice . food are good but service sucks . i waited tables for 30 years and you know where i get my tips by giving my customers good pleasant service with a smile . your waitresses need some good training . we won’t be back
