Needs to be way more authentic and freshly cooked for that price! Pink lady sauce is plain pizza sauce with cream. Parmigiana out of a shaker and not grated fresh in front of you. Cheap silverware . Only benefit, is quick food and great Service.I guess everything is fully pre-prepared .Btw i am European.

We left the Fridays After 5 early so we could get a table. We were seated outside right away @ 725pm. 15 minutes later we were brought room temperature water and our order was finally taken (garlic bread, gnocchi allessandro and chicken marsala). Few minutes later cold bread and dipping oil were brought to the table. And then a large plate of warm garlic bread (quite yummy although awkwardly large - we cut it into manageable slices with the butter knife). And then service for us stopped. We watched table after table get their food. Tables that were seated after us. Around 820pm we asked to have our order packaged to go.The hostess came back to proudly tell us that she had our to-go order moved to the front and they'd start on it right away... WHICH MEANS THEY HADN'T EVEN STARTED IT! We asked for the check. It came quickly. And the card was processed quickly!! we still waited another 15 minutes before we had our food.We expressed our disappointment to the hostess... she looked at our ticket and said the time on the ticket doesn't lie... it was stamped 804pm. The picture I took as we first sat down was stamped 725pm... the picture of mostly eaten garlic bread was stamped 759pm.The gnocchi was disappointing... as if they took a package of already cooked gnocchi and heated it in water... pasty and flavorless... the sauce was tasty and mushrooms and peas fresh.

My family and I arrived around 8:30pm on a Saturday night and requested to sit outside and were seated right away. Our server, Rob, was so nice and attentive. All the food was good and the whole family enjoyed their meals.

Hands down the best Italian food in Charlottesville and sorounding area. Everything on their menu is delicious ? but if you can't decide here's a good place to start:As an appetizer get the fried mozzarellaAs your main course the chicken parmGet a pizza as wellAND your drink should definitely be a sangria (it will change your life)To close things off make sure to order a teramisu even if it's to go you'll thank me later. This is by far the best dinners you will have in your life.

Pretty average Italian food. If you’ve had really good Italian, you will likely agree. But it’s convenient if you’re not in the mood to cook your own pasta. Service was good as well.

I have been to Sals two times and I have had a completely different experience m. The first time I swore never to go back. The server was rude and sarcastic with us when we were asking questions. She offered bread and olive oil to every other table around but us. However, I have Sals another chance and I was pleasantly surprised. Server was really really nice and helpful and let us know that our drinks will be late because they are short staffed. He was communicating really well with his customer and he was hustling hard. Food was what you would expect from a typical Italian restaurant but a bit pricey (Pasta dish: $18-23) for the portion you get. Drinks are great but also pricey (cocktails: $13-15).Overall value: 4/5 due to the inconsistent experience and the pricier items. I would go back if I am around the downtown area and I am craving Italian.

We arrived later in the evening with a group of 7 and were welcomed in without hesitation. Our waitress was Elinor who was wonderful and made all of our nights! We also had a few vegans and vegetarians in our group and Elinor recommended great dishes that everyone loved and coordinated with the kitchen to make sure dietary restrictions were taken care of. Food was great, but the service really made it memorable!

I had such a hard time choosing just one pasta dish since they all looked so yummy! I eventually decided on the pink lady with Parallele pasta and it was a 10/10. Absolutely delicious pasta and sauce and I would definitely recommend. The servers were attentive and approachable. I will definitely be coming back here soon to try some of their other pasta dishes! They had both outdoor and indoor seating available.

Our last night in C’ville as the locals seem to call it, and we felt like pizza. Sal’s is located in the heart of the pedestrian zone right on Main Street next to the old Paramount theater. They have plenty of tables outside and they were very busy when we showed up but we were seated fairly quickly. My wife and I ordered one of their 12” pizzas. My wife got the white pizza and added some black olives and I got the pizza Quattro Gusti which had Parma ham and artichokes. I ordered us both a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The pizza was really quite YUM and the Sauvignon Blanc was slightly better than the average bear but. Dry drinkable. Our young male server was very friendly and helpful. He took great care of us. A great meal and a great location for people watching.

A bit on the price you side but the food is incredible I strongly suggest eating here
