I had two of my kids who graduated 5th and 8th grades. They chose Sakura as their celebratory dinner. We went on Thursday night and it was already full and a pretty decent waiting list.. So we decided to make reservations for saturday.. If you are as impatient as we are.. Id highly suggest making reservations... Once we came in on Saturday... At first I wasnt very comfortable because they sit us with another family. However they were easy to deal with and just as down to earth as my family was. The chef came and it was the most amazing restaraunt experience Ive had in my life so far. A little bit pricier than I expected however the amount of food... My goodness!!!! You have enough for 2 possibly even 3 meals!!! Our chef was awesome and very friendly with us and the children. I will definitely be returning
Nice place, very tasty and flavored food great drinks, but I'm complaining about the servers and staff that where busy checking their cells phones
Paid $55 for two meals and only got $10 worth of food. Definitely wasn't worth it. The salmon looked like they went and brought from Foodlion it was so small. So disappointing, especially when you're hungry. I learn how to make my own Hibachi Salmon I was so disappointed and never been more satisfied. Maybe this experience turn out for the good on my behalf.
Thursday night, was told there would be a 15 minute wait, it’s now been 1.5 hours sitting here waiting for a table, then sitting at the table. Terribly understaffed.
Overcooked beef, fishy fish, off-tasting wine...... need I say more? Won't be going back there ever again!
The food was amazing! The restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly and the hibachi experience was awesome. 10/10 would recommend.
Have always enjoyed the sushi here, but this last time was a bit “off”. It was beautifully crafted, but two things threw me off:1) All of it tasted kinda the same, with an odd sweetness, as if the same sauce or flavoring was used in every roll. Even the spicy tuna was sweet (yuck) and not spicy. (Never had it taste that way anytime or anywhere before)2) Every roll had cucumber in it. Even the simplest spicy tuna and eel rolls had a hefty chunk of cucumber in them (filler?)Sadly, even with the variety we ordered, it all had sweetness and cucumber (I started removing the cucumber thinking that’s what made it all taste sweet, but it still tasted the same.I’ll go once more in a few weeks and order one or two rolls. If its the same, Im afraid Ill be looking for a new place to satisfy my sushi cravings.(Maitre D was a nice and jovial guy - different from whom Ive always seen before, so maybe new onwership?)
We have taken friends to Sakura many times and have always been congratulated for our choice. We gravitate to the sushi bar as we are big sushi fans. The the Sushi chefs are tops and the service all round is good. We jus wish they were open for lunch every day. Sakura thank you for being part of Charlottesville.
I give this a low 3 to a high 2 the quality has slipped and for the price it's really not worth it anymore. The cooks don't have the entertaining energy anymore they just half-hearted cook. The cooking of the seafood is horrible as it's very overcooked now,. for the price brown lobster hard scallops and chewy tough shrimp crispy dry rice ugg not goodWe would go every few months but we now travel farther to taste better at this type of restaurantFor the punctuation police I realize it's incorrect. The establishment is being rated not me lol
The food was great.... but one waitress for ALL of the restaurant is ridiculous. Drinks from the bar were impossible to get after the first initial order. The kitchen forgot my scallops and my husbands white rice. I know places are short staffed but they had other people there that they clearly need to cross train... one person filled drinks back up... you could not order anything from her....
