While visiting Charlottesville, we got takeout from Pineapples Thai Kitchen. For drinks, we had Maine Root Ginger Brew, Thai Iced Tea, and Hot Ginger Tea. For appetizers, we shared an order of Spring Rolls. Even though they were vegan, it was greasy and doughy. We felt that they could have stuffed it with more vegetables. For entrees, we shared the Grilled Chicken over Fried Rice and Pad Thai with Tofu. I liked how the Grilled Chicken wasn't heavily seasoned and how the fried rice was flavorful and not too greasy. The Pad Thai was tasty but the tofu was deep fried and a little sour in flavor. I wished that the Pad Thai had both vegetables and tofu, not just raw bean sprouts and tofu.
Best thai food in Charlottesville!I love Thai food and I tried every Thai restaurant in town and I love pineapple Thai so much.Their green curry is really delicious and spicy! Red curry with duck also really good. Drunken noodles is phenomenal, fresh and tasty. Chicken satay is $8 but have a lot pieces and the peanut butter sauce bring the chicken to another level!Their Thai tea is good too! Want to try all the items on the menu in the future.
Delicious, cute atmosphere, and affordable. It’s our new favorite Thai restaurant!
We were super excited to try the new Thai spot in town and got to the restaurant only 30 minutes after they opened to avoid the crowds. This also typically means service is great as staff is not overwhelmed at that point. We were welcomed as soon as we got in the door (that's a good sign!), took our seats and placed a drink order right away and waited...and waited...and waited....I never got my drink. My husband got one only because he went to the bar to point out the whiskey he wanted. Our server NEVER came back to the table. After giving them 15-20 minutes the server never asked for our order, never checked on my drink, didn't even look in our direction. We paid for the drink and left. They couldn't have cared less and seemed totally fine that we were leaving and I'm so glad we did!!! Maybe we'll try again...but probably not.
My husband and I are new to the area and have been searching for a great Thai restaurant. The only reason I gave two stars is because the first two times here were perfectly fine and the food was great especially the Tom yum lemongrass soup. However, our experience last night was absolutely terrible and we had even brought a friend with us (super embarrassing). We were brought the wrong soup (typically not a big deal), but we never received the correct one even after two other entrees arrived and were mostly finished. This was ordered as my husband’s meal! Meanwhile they were seating customers left and right until the restaurant was completely full. They had like 2 servers working and they obviously couldn’t handle it. Why did they seat so many people without warning?? Anyway we continued to wait for the nonexistent soup after my friend and I finished our meals and were ready to leave. The server was deliberately ignoring us every time we tried to get his attention. I noticed others becoming very disgruntled too. There were only two other tables seated when we arrived so we had been there for awhile. My friend was fed up and walked to the front to pay and get the soups to go. We continued to wait longer and still no soup. I really feel like they just wanted us to leave without it because it was an ordeal trying to get a refund. After advising a few couples to dine elsewhere, they were glad to give the refund for the soup and get us out of there. Haha. It seemed like they were more occupied taking takeout orders. Avoid this restaurant on the weekends! We will have to keep searching for great Thai restaurant because this dumpster fire wasn’t it.
Food was good but there were only two people working front of house and they were far behind on getting food and drink orders out.
We came in for dinner on a busy Saturday. It was busy but the staff were doing everything possible to provide outstanding service to their clientele. We got house cocktails (lychee martini, pineapple millionaire) and they were delicious, though I would recommend getting the martini without olives. We had delicious appetizers and entrees, and were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill. We will be back!
Very tasty and prompt service. We had their Thai Samosa (pic) and Chicken Satay (pic) and That Spring Roll (pic) for starters. All were great. I preferred the chicken but vegetarian wife loved the other two.Other three pics are Ka Pow Tofu, Bangkok Bay, and a chopped chicken stir fry (don't remember name).Wife really liked her tofu, said it was tender without falling apart (like some other places).I loved the Bangkok Bay with mussels, squid, scallops, shrimp. Homerun!
We ordered carry out for the first time from Pineapples Thai for lunch this past Sunday. The food was ready right on time and still quite warm by the time we got it home. The restaurant is well lit and beautifully decorated. Lots of vegetarian options as it appears almost every dish can be made with tofu instead of meat. The Pik Sod Tofu and Pad Thai with tofu were our 2 favorite dishes. The Pik Sod comes with lots of jalapeños so beware of the spiciness. The Pad Garlic Tofu was a little bland and the Fried Veggie Gyozas were not to our liking but we would definitely order from their again. We ordered brown rice in place of white rice which was delicious but we were surprised to see that the containers were only 3/4 full of rice which left us short a little rice. We were happy to see the server wearing a mask. The online ordering system was very easy and we appreciated the range of options when placing our order. We didn’t get a chance to have a drink but that full-bar seemed inviting and look forward to eating there in person in the future.
Fantastic Thai food at this new place in town.
