Updated 6/12I came over on Friday for two order of oxtails -something I typically do. A new girl packed the entree so perhaps she didn't know. I thought it felt light. I saved for my and husband's Sunday dinner and i was disappointed, disgusted, and embarrassed by a carton full of FAT!! Literally big globs of fat with one bone that had less than a bite of meat on it. It looked like thrown out leftovers!Typically I get two bones with ample meat. My husband was disgusted and I had to quickly prepare something else for him to eat.I had put the other carton in the freezer without looking. I paid $28! I can't afford to gamble my money on hit or miss meals!Love the Friday oxtails! It's so difficult to remember they are only available on Fridays! Today is Thursday and I want some now! :D
I eat here more than any other place. I have probably eaten here more than I've cooked for myself since I moved here two and a half years ago.The 3 star review is because of the hours. I don't eat breakfast and I don't eat lunch. This is a dinner spot for me and I don't really get why they would change their hours to close at 3. 8 already seemed too early for me but I could understand it.Every time I want to eat here now they're closed... :/Edit based on owners response:Thanks for reading. I'll change the review. As a fellow small business owner I know how hard it is to find people who actually put in the effort right now. This is also me speaking from my first job being a boh fast food job at minimum wage. I worked extremely hard even though I only got $7.25 because I believe one should put in their all.Wishing you the best of luck in finding staff!!!
I am altering my first review to add that you responded in a very timely way which leads me to believe that you care about your business! I will be back because of you initiating a response that was adequate but will suggest that you clearly need better communication and if your Fridays are that busy ensure that your staffing is adequate and your food supply is plentiful. It is hard when your order is placed and accepted that you could disappoint the folks that are patiently waiting to have your delicious food. I will say that the food was not up to your usual standards and the much loved plantains were not edible because they were ROCKS! Thank you again for reaching out as it does show that you care. There are many ways to take orders beside ordering on line and if your phone is so busy perhaps you could add a fax line to take those calls and orders... just a thought.1st review:Called all morning to place a lunch order and no answer! Finally got an answer and they took all 16 orders for our employees. This was placed at noon and they told us to order online! We did that and on the way to pick it up they cancelled us!! Then told us it would be ready at 2:00!!! This was lunch! When arrived they argued with us and said they didn’t have enough food. They proceeded to serve others! Then told us it was supposed to be a catering order! How would we know since we spoke to the owner! Unprofessional and rude to us for their errors! The food is worth the extra aggravation but probably not after that! Let’s see if they reach out? The owner seemed like when asking for compensation he was doing us a favor! Unbelievable!
So so so so good! I love that they have options for vegetarian, gluten free, and everyone else! Great owners who really love and care about their craft and the community. It’s my favorite restaurant in Charlottesville!

Yummy food and sizable takeout portions! We got the tofu curry and jerk chicken platters. Platters came with kale salad, seasoned rice, fried plantains. Tofu curry was really flavorful with a thick coconut curry gravy. Jerk chicken was an unusual flavor that tasted to me somewhat heavy on cardamom.
My first time ordering from here and I will absolutely be back all the time! It was super easy to order online and pickup curbside. I was sent a text when the order was ready and someone came right out after I called upon arrival. The food was AMAZING, I love how they have vegetarian and vegan options! I got the jerk tofu and beans and my husband got the jerk chicken. Everything was DELICIOUS! I’m usually not a fan of plantains but these were flavorful, crispy and the sauce that came with it was great! 10/10 recommend!!!!

Great food at a decent price. The Cole slaw is spicy and the fruit punch is cold and sweet to the last drop. The staff are an awesome group of hard working people.
