Stopped in for a quick lunch on a road trip in Virginia. We did a Google search for restaurant ideas and chose Mel's. First, this isn't the world's best or fanciest food but it's dang good. Awesome burgers, chicken and macaroni and cheese. I had selected green beans as a side with my chicken and was told, "we got greens, we got cabbage, we got homemade macaroni and cheese and you want green beans?" I smiled and ordered the cabbage and Mac. It was so good! More importantly I appreciate the friendly service, and the atmosphere. There was a line out the door at 2pm on a Wednesday. Comfort food, soul food, home cooking craving? This is the place. I wish I'd had room for a slice of pie. I also enjoyed looking at the photos on the wall. I hope I'll be back someday.
Fantastic food! BLT, Burger and omelette were all fantastic! Friendliest staff! The wait for the food can be slightly longer than some expect, but there are only a few folks running the place and it’s worth a small wait. Wish it was in my hometown. I’d be there several times a week.
I’m riding the Amtrak home with my son after a very taxing trip. We have a layover here, I stopped in to get us a real meal and boy was it worth it!! Definitely filled these two hungry travelers! Great food great service, and the build has some pretty cool history dont forget to check out the photos on the walls!!Thank you for the fabulous meal it’ll make the next part of our journey better
This was a wonderful spot! Polish sausage and country ham sandwich were great!! But the grilled donuts, aaagh the grilled donuts were absolutely delicious! They were so warm and gooey and just perfect!
Nice little place with great homemade food it's been the best I've had since I've been in town the last 4 months. We will definitely hit this place everytime were back in town. Thank you for the great service and delicious foods.
Had lunch there today. Fried chicken. with French fries and Mac and cheese. The fries could have use a bit more seasoning but other than that everything tasted good and it's super affordable!
