I have been dining at Maharaja for years. The owners, Jonathan and Jennifer, are friendly and kind. The Host and usually main server, Inacio, is also friendly and very personable. All the years I have been going there the quality and flavor of the food is always consistent. I highly recommend Maharaja whether you want an intimate setting for a date or a fun atmosphere for lunch.

I have tried all Indian restaurants in C’ville and this is one of the underdog so I never visited here before but this is a hidden gem! As an Indian, I found their gravy more authentic and spicy, plus variation in taste among different curries. Their decor is a bit darker but otherwise, food is awesome!

Very good, authentic Indian food. It would be helpful to have descriptions of the dishes served on the menu, though. When we had questions about dishes we were unfamiliar with we were told to look at the menu (which didn’t have descriptions of the dishes).
Since I’m of Pakistani descent, I get cravings for good curries every once in a while and recently when I did, I came here, as I have local friends who told me it was really good. The place looks nice inside and the smells are very authentic (Indian, not so much Pakistani – Similar, but different). The menu has the typical American favs of Indian eats, also some interesting items as well. The food tasted decent, wasn’t quite as pungent with the curries as I would have hoped for. The service was very friendly, although their ordering system is extremely odd! I had a small issue with it, but others around me really struggled with it. Basically, you scan the QR code at your table, which is specific to your table and the online menu comes up. You then place your order via your smartphone and pay and the server brings your food out. This is very odd and really isn’t saving anything (maybe they’re ridiculous Covid-scared?), rather it offers an odd service experience to customers. If they have servers, which they do, they should just take the order the traditional way. I heard another party ask for a paper menu as they got frustrated trying to figure this one out and he brought them paper menus. If you want to modify your order, you can do that via the comments section in each entrée/food item. Anyway… Would I return? Highly doubtful, as there are a couple of Indian joints in the area that do a better job with the taste/seasoning of the food and ordering process/service.

Pretty good food, but they recently jacked their prices sky high. Sheesh, this is Indian food, not a fancy French restaurant.

Maharaja is the best Indian restaurant I have been to. What makes it so great 1. The food is consistent, the spice level you ask for, and delicious from the Paneer Masala to the Butter Chicken to the Vegetable Pakoras to every single type of naan they have. 2. The service, during the height of the COVID-19 lockdown, they were always on time and pleasant, and the one time they made a mistake, they didn't argue and remembered me and honored the promise they made to make it up the next time. I was reminded about how good a restaurant this is by having Indian food for dinner in my new city and it didn't even come close to measuring up to Maharaja.
