You get what you pay for. Everywhere feels warm and stuffy, elevator doors sometimes open, a bunch of workers hanging out in the pool area smoking and drinking packs of beer while my kids and I were swimming both days of our stay, even though signs say not to smoke. The first room we got put in we opened the pull out couch and it was full of stains and large crumbs. The sink and sheets had hairs. We changed rooms and it was better, but that experience was so gross that it made me wonder if they actually clean things. Do not stay here, definitely not an enjoyable family stay.
Extremely easy to find right off the highway. Also a Great College Town with all different kinds of food, pubs, Vegan restaurants, Thia, Indian and extra. The pizza in the plaza next to Holiday Inn has great pizza too.
I am in Charlottesville dropping my daughter off for UVA Medical School. I left my room for 4 hours today and returned to find all my toiletries, medical prescriptions, contacts lenses, makeup and other grooming items gone. My custom mouth guard. Gone. Dozens of prescriptions. Gone. The entire bathroom swept. The total loss was $1700. I alerted housekeeping. They alerted the manager. The manager didn't even bother to come to my room or call me back. She just had housekeeping tell me "nothing could be done". When I went to her office she didn't even apologize. She told me there was nothing that she could do and nothing that she would do to reimburse me for the losses and that I could call the police and file a report. So I did call the police and file a report. The police were unable to do anything because there are no cameras on the property. There is no camera in the hall or on the exterior parameter. There is a stairwell right next to my room where the person probably grabbed my things, went down the stairs and was outside in the back of the hotel in minutes. I do not know if it was housekeeping who stole my things or another person. Housekeeping keeps the doors open while they are cleaning so that would have been an easy opportunity. Many of the things that were stolen are not easily replaceable. They are going to require doctor's appointments etc. Many of the items I cannot replace at all while I am traveling. I had a lot of prescriptions, facial creams, lotions etc. because my daughter is moving here for 4 years and we stocked up just yesterday for months because she won't have a car. All of it gone. I had to fight with my health insurance company to get emergency prescriptions filled because it was too early to have them filled. I spent my entire day fighting with the manager, on the phone with the national customer service and then shopping to replace all the items that were stolen. I have asked to be comped for the two nights in which I stayed here and I have asked to be reimbursed for the items that were stolen. So far, I have not received any apologies or any indication that they are going to make this right. Holiday Inn should be responsible for the security at their hotel and guests should feel that they are safe. If someone breaks into a person's room, the hotel should reimburse with them for the loss. Especially if the loss is due to employee carelessness of leaving a door open. The worst part is that not one person has shown remorse or empathy for the situation and it is clear that I'm going to have to fight to have this made right. I shouldn't have to fight. They should take responsibility for their employees or their lack of security and do the right thing. I also had to take the day off work. So they should reimburse me for time lost there. I will never stay at a Holiday Inn again anywhere. This has been a total nightmare and is totally unacceptable customer service.
Make sure you always call the hotel and make reservations. Do not do it online! The third parties find a way to make you look like you're booking through the hotel. This can cost some cash. The room was great. Especially since we've been on the road a lot it was nice to sit on a couch and put your feet up
Good location, clean, nice staff, and convenient to Starbucks (in the same parking lot). We stayed for one week and we’re pleased with the service, housekeeping, and friendly front desk staff. Highly recommend.
Hotel is extremely outdated. Tvs are old and hardly work. No breakfast. Gentleman in the morning just has a bad attitude when you ask him anything. I don't often leave bad reviews but this one left a bad taste in my mouth. Save money and go to the Sleep Inn around the corner. At least there's breakfast for your troubles.
Being graduation weekend, by the time we looked for a hotel (2 months in advance), the Holiday Inn Charlottesville-Monticello was our only option. When we arrived in our room at Holiday Inn Charlottesville/Monticello, there were dirty napkins on the table by the lamp and trash between the sheets and comforter. It was evident that they didn't clean the room between parties. Since the hotel was fully booked, they were only able to give us new sets of sheets and comforters for us to remake the beds. The beds were comfy. However, the room was poorly designed - If you need to shut the lights off by the bed, there's a high chance of hitting your head on the bed frame; If you want to access the closet, no one can use the bathroom and vice versa; and The glass wall in the shower is off the frame and looks like it's gonna fall. The AC was really loud throughout the day and night. The room had little flies. They offer coffee and hot tea and iced water for all hotel guests. However, they don't offer complimentary breakfast for guests, but they offer a hot breakfast buffet for $16.99/person. Luckily, there was a Starbucks and Waffle House that was a short walking distance from the hotel.
We stayed here in April 2022 for a wedding. Overall, this was an average experience. Not particularly great and not terrible either. Pros: - There is a Starbucks right across the parking lot within easy walking distance. Wegmans is also right around the corner. - Free parking. - The service was good and the staff are kind. - The room was clean. The bedding was clean and soft. The room has a microwave, Keurig, and mini fridge. The TV has an average channel selection. Cons: - The hotel is close to the highway and the traffic noise is noticeable. - I don't think they accept Visa. The Visa I used to book the hotel was declined at the front desk. I used it immediately prior to arrival and shortly after check-in at Wegmans without issue. I had to use a Mastercard I would preferred to not have had to use that one. - They are noticeably understaffed. There is only one person who runs the bar, food service, kitchen, and probably laundry too given she was taking calls about laundry at the bar. We honestly felt really bad for her and went off site for food. - The bathroom had an interesting mismatch of Bath & Body Works shampoo and different brands of bar soap, conditioner, and lotion with no other amenities. - Housekeeping replaced the towels but didn't flatten the bed or anything like you usually expect. - The view leaves a lot to be desired and the pool area looked pretty grody.
Wife and I took two dogs to Charlottesville and stayed here one night. We arrived 2 hours early and were offered early check in without asking. Pet policy was clearly explained and absolutely the most reasonable we’ve encountered. The hotel staff was courteous and pleasant. The room was a solo King and was spotless. Many older hotels have a dampness in the air, but there was nothing amiss here. Facilities worked, and everything was clean. We will be back.
Bed was comfortable BUT found only 1 soap in bathroom usually have 2, one for hands and one for shower, but not here. Also used the coffee pot in room and pod was not replaced next day. Only 1 creamer and 1 sugar in packet. Seems like things were skimped. Plus key card hardly worked. Had to go to desk a few times in a row because it would not work. Finally fixed it and still had to try it 4 times.
