Poor experience getting yelled at over adding an ounce of milk to my espresso. Would not recommend.

Very nice little coffee shop in the heart of historic down town. The only down side is no blended drinks.

Super friendly, helpful barista. Had the High Five and it was super tasty. I really only wandered in looking for a drink and a restroom (hard to find on the Downtown Mall), but I really enjoyed my drink (and restroom!) so much that I will plan to come back! Right across from the incomparable Magpie Knits, so great location!

The coffee was fabulous and the service was great. Also a nice variety of breakfast and lunch options.

Good coffee, especially the mocha, good scones, and fresh-made egg sandwiches. Worth stopping in, if you're near the Mall.

One of the best iced mochas I’ve ever had!! Definitely a favorite spot for coffee in Charlottesville. I also got the omelette with goat cheese and bacon, which was phenomenal. Super filling (felt like 2 servings to me), but incredibly delicious. Would highly recommend.

ANNA LANA AND THE MANAGER WHOSE NAME I JUST STUPIDLY FORGOT ARE WONDERS AND SO FRIENDLY AND COMFORTING TO THOSE WHO NEED A LITTLE CHEER. THANK YOU ALL AND THANK YOU TO THE PROPRIETOR FOR RUNNING A FIRST RATE COFFEE SHOP OF CHARM AND HAPPY, DEDICATED EMPLOYEES WHO ARE TRULY INTERESTED IN THEIR CUSTOMERS AND WHO FULLY SUPPORTED ME WHILE I DID MY ARTWORK.

I love Grit but I dread coming to this branch because of how busy it can get during the weekends. At one point it was a 30 minute wait for a latte because there was only one barista. This seems to be a common complaint at this store. The staff is also aloof and it doesn't make for an overall great experience.

Not only does Grit have great coffee, they have a menu that is very impressive. First the coffee, they have a good menu and the drinks are made well. We all enjoyed the coffee drinks we ordered. As far as the menu is concerned, Grit has one of the most impressive food menus I've seen at a coffee shop. We went for breakfast, and not only did they have a large menu, but the dishes themselves were large and delicious. I am jealous that this coffee shop is not where we live, but I will absolutely go here again when back in Charlottesville.

good coffee and breakfast options
