We seem to always sit in the mezzanine. It is a dark, dreary room. While the service and food was great the ambiance was not good. Ask to sit upstairs. Havenât been able to see it but it has to be better than the mezzanine.
We have been going to the C&O since 1978 for special occasions and just an evening out. We live this restaurant and are so happy it has been able to weather the ups and downs of the last 40+ years since it opened.
Terrible experience, poor seating and we had to endure an angry Karen abuse the wait staff for about 20 min, which ruined our meal. Kudos though to the staff for handling her abuse admirably and we appreciated being compensated for half our meal for the poor dining experience. Staff should have just asked them to leave given how disruptive they were. Our entrees were decent, however service was slow but I would possibly consider returning in the future.
This was my first visit with my husband. He went to school at The University so we were excited to learn the C&O was still here. We ordered several appetizers instead of an entree and all items - duck confit & crab cake was delicious!!! However, the ravioli was undercooked and cold. We will be back :)
The food was delicious! Loved the toffee pudding and the trout with almonds. Staff was very friendly .will go again when we are in town.
