Not my favorite sauce and typical sides, BUT that's not what I base my review on. This is an amazing BBQ joint that you don't expect in the Northern VA where people think Mission BBQ is the best. I will eat here again to try other items on the menu. Don't listen to people who leave bad reviews because of sauce. Here is the summary:- One of the best slow-cooked ribs- Unsweet baked beans and coleslaw (It took a few minutes to get used to, BUT it was actually very refreshing and went well with the ribs)- No military discount- Busy during the meal time- Generous portion (I barely finished 1/3 rack of rib platter)
Willard's was just ok guys... It was 5 of us that went. We ordered a bunch of food and I tried 4 different meats. Pork ribs, 1/4 chicken dark meat, brisket and burned ends. My fav was the pork ribs hands down. Brisket came in for a close second. Rib fell right off the bone and that's what you want. Enjoyed the smoke taste as well and it went decent with the sauces they have. Now the sauce itself, was a little bit too watery for my taste. Some folks like that but I'm the kind of guy that likes a slight thicker texture to BBQ sauce. There was also some vinegar mix sauce you could try but sadly again, I'm not the vinegar kind of guy. Brisket was good though depending on if you like lean or less lean, fat or not that much fat. This one didn't have that much fat but I'd say had just enough. I personally like a little more fat so that it can give some more moist, juiciness to the meat ?. Service was good though. It was pretty quick for all 5 of us and nice people. That was kool! Everyone seems down to earth and welcoming. I even got carded as I reached for a beer and then complimented later by being mistaken for 9 years younger than I actually am lol ? ?, that was fun. Service would be a 5 star rating itself, food would be a 3. I'd still say try them out for yourself ?
The corn bread is to die for! Rib and sausage are good and the sides are exceptional. Turnips green and black eye corn tasted like the south
I had big hopes. We had the ribs, brisket, bbq chicken, greens and Mac n cheese. Wasn't flavorful. Very bland. Chicken was very dry. Couldn't taste the cheese in the Mac n cheese. Maybe it was an off day for them, but it was a birthday celebration for us. Only thing good was the cornbread.
WOW!!!! The ribs, the pulled pork and the brisket are all fantastic. This hidden gem is well worth finding and returning to time and again.
This is the best barbecue around Fairfax area for a brick and mortar store. You can enjoy their pulled pork or brisket They also have really good burnt ends apparently. Come on down and have some sweet tea and try some other coleslaw and all kinds of their delicious sides and you won't be disappointed it's a great place for lunch or dinner call ahead see what they got just in case it's really busy and they are running out of something you might want doesn't hurt to ask check them out and get going for your taste buds
Delicious BBQ! The vast menu offers a ton of choices. The sandwiches are HUGE and a great value with 2 heaping sides. Pulled Pork and ribs are both delicious! The sauces are great as well. Fast service!
Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Better than anything at Famous Dave's, better than Dixie Bones (except for Dixie Bone's whole chicken). Huge menu, decent prices, variety of excellent sauces with none too sweet.
If you haven’t done yourself the favor of trying this BBQ yet, treat yourself. The food and the staff are excellent. They go out of their way to accommodate you.Their fatty brisket is on point and you can’t beat the pulled pork.
After being away for 3 years (having left the area for work) I was looking forward to what I remember as juicy, flavorful, and oh so tasty brisket I had many times at Willard's. And portions were huge! So huge in fact, it would take 2 days to finish off one of their yummy platters. But what I got today (back in area to visit family) was dry, flaky, and dense brisket. The brisket may have sat around for several hours before it was served to me. I couldn't have squeeze out a drop of moisture had I twisted it as if it was a wet rag. And the portions seemed much smaller than what I remember. Maybe it was the time of day of my visit (630pm) but Willard's closes at 9 pm and whatever the case may be, the food was far from what I remember when I had them last in 2018.I would not recommend.
