I have been going to Fords for a while. I try to arrive before six to enjoy the “Buck a Shuk “ oysters. I have never had a bad meal there. The staff has been wonderful. Being from Maine I will say this place has the finest Seafood south of Maine. A must go to place if you like seafood !!
Oh Fords! Always busy, always lively, and almost always spectacular. I have been here numerous times and have always loved it. The décor is friendly and whimsical, and the ambiance is full of life. The food is almost always to die for (not literally) and their drinks, too. I keep saying almost, because this one time, the food was not good and the service was not good. We decided to try out a few appetizers together and we had a great time, but the clams and the mussles were really unappetizing. The shrimp was spectacular! The service was not good mostly because of language barriers and us being misunderstood a lot. However, I will still rate a four because of the great past experience we have had there. I do recommend going especially if you have kids, it's very kid-friendly, but it’s not cheap. Reservations will save you a lot of time, especially during rush hour.
We had a great lunch here. They have some gluten-free options for my wife is very nice. Service and hospitality was spot on.
Amazing Blackened Shrimp! My wife had the Fish and fries and she loved it.Waiter Geison G. Was great. Knew the menu and offered suggestions for Meal of the day. Drinks were brought to the table fast. Food was only a couple minutes behind the drinks.I rate this restaurant a 7 Star not 5.
Was a chef for 20 years working mostly on the Eastern shore of Maryland in the seafood culture along with culinary college and training in Providence Rhode Island. This place is better than the old school Legal Seafoods before they went chain! The oysters and steamed clams were spectacular! The lobster roll CT style was the best I've ever had. Nice atmosphere and a completely great seafood outpost in the heart of VA hunt country!
Literally the best seafood dish I have ever had (the pecan crusted trout, for those interested)! And the customer service was top notch! If you're in the mood for high end seafood, I don't think you can do better than Ford's Fish Shack.
The fish tacos are always good but the other entre selections are pricey for what they offer. The beer selection is limited and my first choice wasn't available. The restaurant was cold and it wore my jacket the whole time. The serving staff is very kind but when we arrived at the table a dirty wine glass remained from the previous patrons. We have you been to this location in several years, I don't expect it we will be returning anytime soon.
Very good food and reasonable prices. Crab cakes were great. Fried oysters were fantastic. Short ribs were wonderful. Skinny little french fries were awesome. Banana pudding was phenomenal. Service was fabulous.
Fords is always our go to, on special occasions. They never dissapoint.
I go here often. Granted I am biased about one particular dish, but I have had many and all were good. Fish & Chips are excellent, as was the Lobster Roll, Oyster Roll, but my personal favorite is the Fried Clams. Just like I got in New England as a kid. Amazing!
