Great spot to get your dhosa fix!! The dhosa is massive and cooked perfectly. It has the crispy cracker-like texture you are looking for on the outside and as you get to the center, its fluffy and pancake-like with the signature tangy taste you get from the fermented urad daal batter. I got the masala dhosa and the masala potatoes were perfectly cooked and spiced! It comes with two different chutneys - the mint cilantro chutney was bright and refreshing and the peanut chutney was the perfect contrast with it being spicy, rich and creamy. The dhosa also comes with two lil sides of sambar, packed full of veggies. The sambar is a little salty, but then again, what sambar isn't!If you're looking for a nice South Indian meal and want to satisfy that dhosa craving you've been having for a while, Chennai Express is the place to go :)
Food was great. I ordered spicy masala dosa with a cool butter milk. Friendly staff.
We have visited this restaurant a while ago. That one trip was enough for us to decide never to go here again. Food was oily, served very late, ambience was noisy and smelly and crowded. They used the same oil for frying both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. We decided enough. Wouldn't recommend for vegetarians.
The best goat biryani. Nicely made, home style. Small dine in area. Indian home snacks are available to buy with some stuff to buy like authentic sesame oil. Restroom and the dine in area is okay, might need rearrangement. Host is good.
Thalapakattu goat biryani was good .. uthapam, dosa were tasty as well.. the only disappointment was the kesar sweet we ordered but that’s ok.. overall a very good place ..
This is one of my favorite restaurants before, where I travel 30+ miles to pick it up. But last 2 times it went worse where all my order was so spicy that I have to throw most. I ordered medium though but I am sure it is even next level to spicy and it’s not the first time.
Authentic Chennai taste. Never had such taste in any place before. The ambience is not that great but the food is super delicious. Happy to be here often and recommends to all.
Dosas are authentic and delicious, finally found a good place to satiate my south Indian food cravingWe tried Mysore Masala Dosa, Masala Dosa and Ghee roast. Mysore Masala was the best of all but all were good. Sambhar is really good and tasted authentic. I have been going to a lot of South Indian restaurants around DMV area in search good authentic sambhar, but most of them are below average, luckily I found this gem. I recommend everyone to try this restaurant.I see a lot of reviews talking about the service. So I suggest an improvement. All the customers want to be welcomed by someone and get help on the seating etc. We were lost for a while trying to figure out menu, where to sit and all. This improvement will provide a big boost in the customer experience.Overall, service was quick, lady on the counter was friendly and food was delicious. I wanted to rate it 4.5 but would go with 5 as I am happy with the taste and want to support restaurants maintaining the authenticity.
Amazing Ghee Masala Dosa. But the prices are way off. 15 bucks with tax for Dosa is too much. The sambar is better than most in DC area. The chai has too much spice and not enough tea taste. If the price is lowered to the original level then this will be one of the better restaurants in entire DMV
I love this restaurant, the food is spicy and really tasty but many times have bad experience placing the order at this location.Today we tried to call from home multiple times. The call went straight to voice machine and said we cannot leave a message. So we decided to go in person and order. After standing in line for 10 minutes just to hear that they are closed for today to take orders. To give a better customer experience it would have been easier if in my first call the answering machine said we are closed for today afternoon to take any new order !!Improve your service please!I still ended up going to the Ashburn store as a loyal customer!!
