So glad Takohachi opened in this area. They have their other location in Arlington and a sister restaurant Satsuma in Bethesda, MD. Food quality is the same as the other locations. Cuts are average and buttery fresh. Definitely recommend the salmon belly, yellow tail belly, uni, smoke salmon, scallop, crawfish salad, and tobiko. All nigiri are $1. I dined here on a busy Saturday and we waited less than 10 minutes between out orders. This is a smaller location so large parties may find it difficult to find seating. Parking is very easy to find as they have a wide open lot. Highly recommend Takohachi if you want some quality sushi at an affordable price.
Great value for your money! I went here recently after discovering that this sushi spot offers $1 nigiris, all day! And I can say, I enjoyed the food and selections they had to offer. The Food: since Nigiri's were only $1, I had to get all of my favorites. The quality of fish was pleasantly nice, it's not too grade but you do get what you pay for. The quality of fish was good and I had no complaints. The Service: I ordered my sushi over the phone and the staff I talked too was very nice. They got my order and I picked up with no issues.Overall, a solid 4/5 for value, price and service. The sushi was definitely good for the price. No complaints here and I'll be back for sure.
Love having good dollar sushi in my neighborhood. Very traditional flavors and the ramen is delicious as well. The lunch bento boxes are a great deal.
Nigiri sushi for a dollar a piece is a good deal. The seafood and other nigiri toppings are good and the rice has a faint and not too sour taste which is good. It slightly falls apart but overall for the cost it's worth it. 5 out of 5 recommended.
The sushi aren’t fresh. Taste of the food are just so so. Nothing special.
Very good sushi for an affordable price! We’ve been to lots of sushi places around NoVA. Most are run of the mill (average) where the sushi is good (better than buffet sushi) but no where near the level of the real sushi restaurants.Takohachi is better then average, but not at the level of the really good sushi places. But it is slightly cheaper than the average sushi place. We ordered the sushi regular along with some extra pieces of nigiri. The yellow tail, flounder, salmon and salmon belly were excellent! The fish had great flavor and fat content. The California roll was better than average, eel was average.Overall, this was a great sushi meal for the price. We’re making this our go-to spot for sushi.
Best sushi I've had in Fairfax so far and for a good price too. I came back recently and was sad to see they wernt open at that time. Can't wait to come back again soon!
If you need some cheap sushi to fill your belly, this is the place for you. But if you’re actually a sushi lover and want good quality sushi, run far away!* Ramen was ok - definitely not authentic but still tasted decent. Broth was very oily.* I’m used to agedashi tofu bring soft and silky - this one was made with this a firmer tofu, resulting in a tough grainy texture. Fried with a light batter but tasted mostly of raw tofu. Wasn’t a fan.Sushi…..* Ebi/ Sweet shrimp nigiri & Eel nigiri - very small, low quality. Not worth getting, honestly. Definitely understood why they’re $1/each.* Spider roll - disappointing to see the ends weren’t given, that’s our favorite part. We joked that maybe the kitchen staff ate them. It was decent for the four pieces we were given.* Crunchy spicy shrimp roll - the “best” part of the meal. Pretty good for maki.* Rockstar roll (shrimp tempura with spicy tuna on top) - something was very wrong with the spicy tuna. It looked exactly like raw ground beef and tasted off. I doubt there’s real tuna in it. It’s most likely blitzed with fillers, hence the artificial red meaty texture. Super frustrating since spicy tuna is my favorite. We ended up scraping the tuna off because we couldn’t stomach it.All in all, no plans to come back. Sorry!
Sushi is not very fresh but it was decent for the price. The wasabi tasted like real wasabi, not a colored horseradish. Soy sauce ramen is tasty. The best part of this place is the service. There were six parties in the restaurant with only one waiter. However, every tables were able to order and get the food quickly. He refilled water and cleared out dirty dishes quickly without a request from customers.
Most sushi restaurants on the US do not seem to know what they are doing. At $1/piece, one might not have much to expect. But this restaurant delivers far beyond its very humble price. Like some discerning reviewers have said, this is not a $50-100pp Sushi place, but given what one pays this place delivers far beyond the dollar-shop expectation.
