I used to like this place very much, especially their big daddy is a killer, but recently the food is usually cold and tonight they really disappointed us by their customer service. I ordered the southwestern salad (which I love it because it has many ingredients) but they brought me one without half of the items! The cheddar, olives, chips,… were missing!! At first, when I told our waiter, she just said yes we usually have this problem!!! And then when I brought it up with the manager, he didn’t seem to care at all that I was mad and without any apologies just gave me 30% discount and left!! I was really disappointed at them and don’t like to come back here, at least for now :(
Food was fine. We had a large group of 15 and the restaurant was almost empty. We were seated quickly but service took forever. We waiting over 20 minutes for bills. The late lunch/dinner took over 2 hours.
The food, service and atmosphere is outstanding. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the game. Bang bang shrimp was solid, the steak Quesadilla was outstanding.
Definitely can’t recommend the service they were very short staffed, however the food was good! I had the Mac n cheese burger and it was quite tasty! I would recommend this place but just make sure you are patient
The floors were dirty. The bathroom was dirty and the paper towel dispenser was empty. The food wasn't very good. Ordered a burger medium well and it was still pink inside. Their spicy Burger wasn't very spicy - the bun was super sweet and tasted almost like cake. The french fries that I had were cold. On the bright side, the waiter was super nice and attentive. He even brought refills without having to ask. I don't think I would ever dine here again though.
The food was good, however, our party of 3 waited upwards of 90 minutes to receive drinks and about 15 minutes more than that for the food. Despite the long wait, the restaurant seemed to be only half full at the time. The waitress was very friendly and apologetic so there must have been another serious issue with fulfilling orders at the time we chose to dine in.
Subpar experience yesterday. Only recommend if you have plenty of time to kill. We were so looking forward to our visit while we were in Blacksburg to tour VT. As an alumni and former customer I was disappointed. When we arrived there were 5 people ( a party of 2 and 3) waiting at the hostess stand with no hostess in site. When we asked how long they had been waiting, they said quite a while! My husband went to the bar to let staff know people were waiting to be seated. Another group of 3 came in during that time. The restaurant was not full at 230 pm. Once finally seated in the bar area, the bartender waited on us and 13 other patrons. Overall I was disappointed in the service, lack of staff and the quality of my meal. I ordered a Carpetbagger which came with 3 small strips of pressed hamburger, barely any onions or cheese. My family and I will visit another location in the future, and hopefully have a better experience.
I've been eating at Macado's in Blacksburg for 35 years and it has been a reliable experience with a diverse menu for the first 33 of those. Everyone can find something to enjoy and remove the slaw from at Macados and the staples have been consistent and first rate. But no more. Every experience since covid has included waits, delays, slow food, bad service, and a poor impersonation of what we used to love. Today I arrived with my girlfriend at 12:10 after warning her it had been slow and off for a while. We waited 10 minutes to be seated; 15 to have our order taken; and over an hour for a fried chicken salad and chicken oriental wrap (yep, that's the real name). The waitress explained that they burnt the first chicken breast before burning the second chicken and deciding to serve it. She ate most of it but it was painful to watch her even try to cut it. I was convinced they would comp her meal although they did not. My wrap came without any sauce: historically they have drenched it in the sauce/dressing but this time none was found. The waitress went off to get some but did not return for 20 minutes. When she finally returned and I asked about it, she got me a small ramekin of sauce to take with me. Except for the milkshake, the meal was a complete fail. I'd like to say this is a one-off but every meal ends up being this bad and this slow now. Some VT employees one table over brought work to do while waiting on their food. Macado's used to be a staple of Blacksburg social life with 100 menu items and support for meeting friends and co-workers. Now, every meal is a disappointment with new, much higher prices. My co-workers want to keep going but I'm done until they turn it around.
My husband and I enjoyed our experience. Our server who was the bartender was attentive in the beginning but after we got our food he was a little scarce, but he did have the entire bar plus all the tables in the bar. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip and when it finally came out it was just warm and our food came out shortly after. My husband had the Molly Sandwich and added bacon. His only complaint was the cucumbers were cut very thick. I had the Betty Boop which was very yummy. I do think there are way too many options on the menu.
I went to Macados for a late lunch with a large group. Which I understand can be a daunting task for a server but our experience was just straight up ridiculous. We ordered and waited for our food for over an hour and a half. We asked other servers where our food was and they assured us soon but it never came. We even asked a manger and he really did not seem to care, either. When our food did come, multiple orders were wrong and almost every meal was cold. Not only that, but our drinks were neglected the whole time. Our waiter disappeared for essentially the whole hour and a half we waited for the food which makes sense cause he sucked. Literally will never be coming back here, honestly the worst dining experience I have ever had.
