Wonderful experience. Good service. Nice meat selection and I loved the specials. The brisket was...... ugh I'm going back now cause writing this review made me think about how delicious that brisket was.Like damn son. It was good. Ribs were eh, and that over sauced stuff wasn't there for me. But that brisket slapped.
I asked for moist/fatty brisket and got this...After tasting all of their meats and sides, I can say the best thing they sell is the mac and cheese.If this in indicative of what NOVA serves as BBQ, this region is in need of a real Pitmaster.
I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, and 4 bones. The sides were Mac and cheese, and Cole slaw. The burger has no flavor, nor did I taste any seasoning. The burger tasted like the lettuce, no flavor in the cheese at all. I couldn't even taste the salt from the bacon. Visually appealing yes, but the executing, and taste not so much. The Mac and cheese was like a yellow porridge. The ribs were sweet, that's it nothing else to that. I don't mean sweet as in "SWEET!" like sugary How do you make beef taste like nothing? I'm not sorry the only saving grace of why I give 2 stars instead of one. Is the fact that your cornbread was actually good, and the delicious Lemonade washed down that food. That's what I get for trying something new.
Not great. Over $30 for 6 small slices of brisket, 3 short ribs, and 2 sides, so very pricey for the relatively small portions. Brisket came out cold and was not tender at all, so that portion was a one star (to be generous). Ribs also weren’t very tender but the bark was flavorful so that redeemed things a bit. The corn bread and sweet tea was good, so overall was three stars but won’t be visiting again.
Blackhog barbecue was extraordinary. I got the ribs with the Beef brisket. They had about six different barbecue choices to put over the meat melted in your mouth. The sides were phenomenal I got the mac & cheese and collard greens. Not to mention their delicious specialty drinks. I will definitely be back for sure and would recommend it to any and everybody exclamation
Went on a Tuesday for the first time since they're so close to my gym. Full rack for $20! Nearly half price on Tuesday! Glad I decided to try, they were amazing. And for my side? I normally go with what the staff recommends.. they said the greens. I'm not a greens guy, but holy smoke were these good! I would go back and get a double order next time. I will be back, thanks guys.
I used to go to the original in Frederick, MD. Loved it. I have been to this location twice. The ribs were excellent: juicy and tender, and the rub and sauce were delicious. The baked beans and cole slaw are the best. The cornbread is also very good. The portions are decent. The service is very friendly. I will be back.
The food was incredible, and our waitress was very kind. The greens taste exactly like my mom used to make. And the Arkansas burnt ends were incredible We drove over an hour and a half to get here and will certainly do it again
Finally got a chance to try this place and it did not disappoint. Was craving some bbq chicken and they have a great juicy and flavor full bird. You can either have half or a full bird, I had the half platter with 2 sides and it was plenty. Also got to try their spare ribs, also good not fall off the bone but still decent. Just wish they had a bit more of a smoky flavor and it be perfect.Service was welcoming and very friendly. Its new quick dine restaurant with a great atmosphere. Overall it was delicious.
New restaurant. Service was outstanding. Ribs were over cooked. Arkansas brisket was over sauced. Beans are solid, potato salad I'd good. Cornbread was moist and delicious. Brisket was moist but not as tender as I prefer
