The Grenada is very good, not too sweet but the pomegranate shines through.
I went to Mexicali Blues for the first time the other day and it was so so tasty. The strawberry margarita was delicious and we were able to get them for all day happy hour on Monday. I had the quesadilla with roasted veggies for dinner and I can’t stop thinking about how good it was. The service was good and the servers were attentive. They kept our basket of chips and waters full and were very prompt to check in when they saw us finish a drink.
Slow service and some muni choices unavailable
This place used to be so good, but my last take out order was terrible. Food was supposed to be ready in 10-20min, I arrive and the lady at the door said they were cooking it and it should be out in a second. 30 min later (total 50min) I finally get my food. The food was luke warm at best and had no flavor. Not sure if the hostess was unbothered and decided to let the good sit, but I saw people at the bar order food and get it within 15 min. The bartender was lovely and thank goodness I had a mocktail to sip on. This wasn’t my first bad experience, but I was hoping that the time before that was a fluke. Very disappointing, but they haven’t been right the year and half.
I love this place so much, I get grumpy if I don’t go once or twice a month for a meal and every week or so for a drink. The food is consistently good, the drinks terrific, and the staff incredibly sweet and responsive. It’s the kind of place where I enjoy sitting next to the kitchen to watch what’s coming out.
Nice location, Kind workers :)There are many kinds of food. You can order any food, you can success!!I go here many times, I feel really happy cuz of yummy food~ try and enjoy!!!I highly recommend for you ?
Don’t miss out on this yummy food. I loved my street tacos (meat tacos on their menu). The salsa here is amazing. Cheese dip top notch. Yummmmm. Just overall a lovely experience.
Mexicali Blues is probably the most underrated Mexican Food restaurant in Arlington! The food is fantastic! Service has always been exceptional and the restaurant itself (including the facilities) has always been clean.Let’s start with the salsa and water, which is served as soon as you are seated. The water does not repeat does not have the “city tap” taste... you know what I mean...the whole filtered toilet water flavor. Look I understand it’s whats hardened the city dweller but you get to skip it here, which is always a plus! I know its just free water but it’s the little things in life. Now onto the salsa. Being a self proclaimed salsa connoisseur, I have to say the salsa is freshly made with love! There is no store bought canned flavor happening in that bowl. Just look at it! I will warn you: if all you know is store bought vinegar salsa; you have done your palate a disservice and you need to come and experience what fresh salsa tastes like. You will notice the glorious cheese dip. It’s probably a good pound of melty, cilantro’y, onion’y, tomato’y goodness in a bowl. Not too much of the other stuff but enough to enhance the flavor. Both entrees were incredible. We had the “Burris Taco” and the “Grilled Chicken Meat Tacos”. Portion sizes were great and the food was delicious! When you add the additional sauces that accompany the dish, it is pleasure on a plate!Needless to say, if you enjoy food to the place where you want to dance in your seat when the flavors are kicking... then you need to visit Mexicali Blues.Last tip, perfect date locale that hits the spot but doesn’t break the bank (and in this economy)... You’ll thank me later!
This place made the best burritos I and my wife have ever eaten. It is as simple as that . We ordered the classic with steak and the mexicali with carnitas. Both are lightly fried on the outside. If you go on Tuesday the burritos are $8 . Other days they are $10. I asked to speak with the manager . When she arrived I said to her, “ We are from California and have eaten lots of burritos all over the country. Your burritos are the best we have ever had. And, by the way, you charge too little. “ The wait staff were super as well . This place is an Arlington gem.- thank you for your time.
Super fun place and they have the best drinks. The bartender is really nice and everyone there is super friendly. I highly recommend coming here for happy hour or just a bar crawl. Really worth it! I love the rumchata
