Excellent arepas and passion fruit juice!I wish I took the photos but it was so good I forgot - I got veg arepa just out of curiosity and now I’m coming back for it for sure. The person at the register recommended the sauce for it (creamy, garlicky, a little spicy) and it a great suggestion. Took only few min and great service. Love it!
Only giving one star because one of the employees was considerate of my situation.First, we had to go back twice to get our whole order. Twice. The Curry Chicken Empanada was dry and bland. The only plus on my partners burrito was the size. The computer system has preloads in it that they “don’t serve as “sides”.” Black beans and cilantro rice…really? They are in as $0, which I assumed was perhaps because we’d bought multiple main meal foods. No one bothered to explain this, they just didn’t give it to us. If the items hadn’t been so my kid has something to eat, I probably wouldn’t have minded as much.It wasn’t until I asked for the sides, along with another item they had failed to give us, that I learned this. The employee must have kids, because she gave me a small portion of the rice anyway. I was very thankful for that, hence, the one star.Don’t waste time or money here.
They don't have an allergen menu so people with food allergies beware, they do not take your issue seriously
I wanted to avoid leaving a review and give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the first two visits were coincidental? However, after my third time getting food poisoning eating their food, I feel it's best to warn others...BEWARE!!! YOU MAY GET FOOD POISONING.
Interesting little spot. I got a bowl and three empanadas. The empanadas were a little bland, I ate two different ones and really couldn’t tell the difference. But the bowl was awesome. They have a good variety of toppings. I will go back.
Really delicious authentic Latin American street food! I like that there are several options to order smaller items for $3-5 so you feel like you can try a lot of things without having too much food. This restaurant is a counter in the Ballston Quarter food court (basement level). I have noticed that the hours of most of the places here have been shortened and some days they aren’t open at all, so it’s hit or miss and Google hours aren’t always accurate. But the food is great! Definitely recommend for a quick bite!
I just keep going because the arepa is not bad. But they treat you terribly, it seems like they are doing you a favor you do not deserve. I have gone there 5 times and they’re either closed earlier than it says on website or opened but simply not serving food. Consider yourself lucky if you can actually eat an arepa there. I do not recommend it.
We had several different arepas and the sweet potato fries. The food was good. We'll definitely order from Maizal again.
Cute little eatery with some very good empanadas. I had the chicken curry empanada, a steak empanada, and the shrimp empanada. I also had the guava juice. The only problem is that they gave me one of the wrong empanadas (chicken curry instead of chorizo, which was my original order), and they were almost going to not give me a napkin and fork (until I asked). Other than that, the food was very good and the staff were nice and meant well. I would come back again to try the rest of their empanadas.
I went today to eat arepas before Encanto, I saw people being turned out, I was told the system was down and there was no way to order, wanted to order online and I was told , doesn’t work either. The grill was getting clean, almost done and they were cleaning d turning on off everything, I was told they will close in 20 min (was 6pm) this is my third and last strike with this place. Is a really cool concept and seems really delicious but customer service is horrible and highly recommend management or owners to keep an eye on your place to get good results. Very disappointed
