Everything was delicious: the sushi, the teriyaki, and even the miso soup. Will be going back.
I love Kanpai restaurant - they're such a wonderful little locally owned restaurant that's one of the best Japanese comfort-food spots in the DMV. Kanpai is best known for their fantastic lunch specials. When I worked in the neighborhood I would go over and get a wonderful katsu lunch plate for right around $10. But Kanpai is even better for dinner, and if Rosslyn was more active in the evenings I think Kanpai get the recognition it deserves.I love going to Kanpai in the evening and enjoying their really well curated list of noodle dish specials like nabeyaki udon and zaru soba depending on the season. You can even get handmade yaki onigiri that looks and tastes flawless. Any place that keeps a natto handroll on the menu cares about the details - I don't even like natto and I still order it every time I go just on principle.Give Kanpai a chance to be more than a business lunch and you'll find a real neighborhood gem.

My friend and I came 30 mins before closing and before we sat down they said we need to hurry. Then the waitress wanted us to move to the back which seemed it was due to our race. After, we sat down she rushed us and did not pay attention to the order in detail. The order came out wrong, they she stated we needed to cancel our order and pretty much leave. If they did not want to take any more customers for the evening, I would of preferred they just say that instead of giving rushed, unprofessional service.
