Great truck at the zoo. Beans are great, cole slaw a bit odd.
Upon first approach, I was guided by my nose. I sniffed this place out from a mile away. When I got to the line, I quickly noticed the high prices. I’m sure this is influenced by the DC area or the Smithsonian museum. A bottle of water was $4 vs $2 for a can of Pepsi. That’s a bit overpriced but that’s my own opinion. I ordered chicken and fries for the kids and a pulled chicken sandwich. The sandwich was actually pretty good but it could have come with fries for the $14 it cost. The chicken tenders and fries were $10.50 and there were 5 tenders and 10 French fries. All jokes aside, there weren’t a lot of fries on that platter. I also went up and asked for ketchup and hot sauce. The lady taking my order made a very snarky remark and said, “ we don’t have catsup, we only have ketchup”. She didn’t even catch the hot sauce! This whole interaction would have been much more pleasant if they weren’t blasting music out from the two speakers right next to the window. I’m all about having fun and setting the mood but when you have to constantly lower the music to listen to what your customer has to say, that’s probably because the volume is set at an inappropriate level. Good music but too loud for an ordering window.I’m not trying to knock this place because the food was actually pretty good. I probably wouldn’t pay the prices to come back but I’m glad I tried it.
Delicious! Had pulled pork sandwich and it was on point. They are a little slow, but when my order was wrung up incorrectly, the owner immediately made it right. Mistakes happen anywhere, but when you fix them right away. THATS GREAT SERVICE!
The pulled bbq chicken sandwich was fantastic! There was just the perfect amount of spice to give it a good kick-loved it!
How you gonna call yourself a southern food truck and not offer Sweet Tea. BBQ is edible at best. This is coming from a lifelong southern girl from Memphis TN.
Unfriendly service for starters. Extremely over priced. What kind of a BBQ truck runs out of BBQ sauce?!? That’s the definition of incompetence a d poor management. When I politely asked if they had any remaining sauces I was told “you can’t have a bunch, it’s limited” I just spent $66 dollars on lunch, I think it’s ok to have a few BBQ sauces. Your poor planning is not my fault. Avoid. I won’t be going here ever again.
We ordered food that was labeled gluten free on the sign, that was obviously not gluten free! They make the same fries for the queso fries as the regular fries (which are not labeled gluten free). We are gluten freeThe servers did not know if it was gluten free or not and said if it the sign says it's gluten free then it is gluten free!I get better service in UT where I'm from!
Beware of the "Bootheel" southern BBQ food truck at the Smithsonian National Zoo. Extremely over priced even for park food! They served us food, "queso fries" that was listed as "gluten free", but it is not. After eating a few bites we asked the lunch truck cook whether the fries were actually gluten free. The food truck operator said the fries weren't gluten free, I responded that their sign says they are, then he changed his answer to, "if the sign says they are, they are",. Stay away from this place. It looks like you're supporting a local smoked meats bbq food truck, but it's really just an over priced, fast food style, one size fits all company that has extremely low quality food. My whole family is allergic to gluten. For over $40 we got 2 tiny sides of chicken and beef, and a bad stomach ache and inflammation for a week. Not cool.
Absolutely the worst , good sauces but nothing else is worth the time or money greasy and cooked to fast ..Please pass on this .. It’s a No, No , No.If u get any bring your own mac&cheese! Wanted to give no stars!!!!!!
I pre-ordered my food on their website around noon, to be picked up at 6:50pm later that day. When I went at 6:50, they told me it wouldn't be ready for another 30-40 mins. I went back 45 mins later & the guy told me it would be another 30 mins. I then went back again (around 8:50pm) and they said it would be ANOTHER 30 minutes. I just asked for a refund & ended up going to Chipotle. Save yourself the time & eat elsewhere. They wasted 2 hours of my night.
