The beef chow foon is delicious. It is flavoured just right. We came here especially for the coconut chicken pot, every table had one so We decided to try it. It is simple yet good and refreshing. The crispy fried piegeon was alright. Hk duck was ok too. Pig skin and blood is good. This placd has small space inside, and service is really good when the older lady served us.
Parking lot, so parking wasn't an issue for me. The food was delicious but the service could use some work. The food is authentic and was very good. Takes some time to come out though so be aware of that. We ordered spring rolls, Crab Meat E-Mein Hong Kong Style, Pineapple Pork Chops and Chinese Yu-choy with garlic. We wanted the Chinese Watercress w/ Garlic but they were sold out. We were asked about drinks quickly when we sat down but took about 20 minutes afterwards for them to take our order even though they took 2 other tables that had sat down. They only have 2 beers but looked like they had a small bar. We didn't get a beverage menu.Food took some time to come out at as well and my friend had asked for more water but they never brought it. We had to flag someone down to get bowls of rice which do not come with the meals. The pork Chops were delicious and pairs very well with rice. Loved the Yu Choy and the E-Mein as well. Spring rolls were okay in my opinion. Kind of wish the E-mein had a little more crab meat. I would come back for the food. At the end when my friend paid for the meal, the server hovered over her while she filled out the tip and signed the receipt.
I think I find another hidden gem (cantonese food): Rice Pot Asian Cuisine4709 Backlick Rd, Annandale, VA 22003Coconut ChickenPepper Salt mantis shrimpIt may cost some time to wait food, but I think it worth it
Has a wide and extensive menu. Includes Asian dishes not commonly found elsewhere nearby. But be warned that menu prices are the cash price, and if a credit card is used a service charge percentage will be added to the final credit charges
They charged me an extra 3.25% for using the credit card and asked for more tips after I had already given 15% gratitude based on the after-tax amount on the bill. They said it is their boss' rule to charge 3.25% extra for using a credit card which I have never heard of.I would suggest the owner not do such shady transactions to turn away customers, it is a really bad business practice. Two stars for the good food though!
Used to be my go to, with consistently good food. After three meals in the past 18 months, I can now say I won't be going back. One meal was meh, one meal was bad, and one meal included a metal washer in the rice. Plus, last night my meal price was randomly rounded up "because you used a charge card" without warning or notice. It's time to find someplace new.
I used to go to Rice pot allot. Me and my husband went for lunch for the first time after pandemic. after setting , we noticed that the tea cups are upside down on the table with out Saucer. my husband got up trying to change our cups, (all other tables had cups with saucers ) the waitress told us no u can’t change or have saucer because cup w saucer is only for dinner . btw we paid for lunch 12.95 each . I never heard of this before . We were very surprised and trying to explain to her because of health/safety it is not OK to leave cups upside down on the table without Saucer, special now days ! still she did not change it . our meal came at the same time with appetizers. Food was cold , very dark and thick sauce, beef taste like grass . waitress never came to our table . we were the only customers in the restaurant . finally I called her to bring the check . we were very disappointed, shocked . I will never ever go back . I think the management has been changed . Food and service was horrible.
Horrible food. I got the food from there before, it was ok, but the last couple times getting worse. Today they bit all the expectations. Stir-fried grouper smelled like pee. Never back there ?
Very good food. Peking duck was less crispy than last time, but still good. Other dishes all great!
While in the Annandale and seeking some decent, authentic Chinese food for lunch, I stopped in here. The young man who took care of me was very helpful and pleasant. The place is nice looking on the inside, they have these beautiful partitions everywhere to break up the tables and make it more cozy in the area where you might be sitting. As you walk in, there are many fish tanks next to the door, which appear to have fresh lobster and possibly other items that are on the menu. They have a HUGE menu, loaded with some authentic Chinese food as well as many of the typical American Chinese items that are popular. I opted to start with their tea, which had a decent flavor, but since it wasn’t strained, it had too many leaves floating in it, so it wasn’t a favorite of mine. I then ordered egg drop soup, but he brought hot & sour soup instead and since I’ve never tried it, I decided to keep it and I really liked it. It was loaded with fresh veggies and the egg in it made for a nice textural balance. The broth was also very tasty; I could totally see getting this again! I also liked the stick style noodles that came with it versus the typical, flat fried wonton wrappers. For my entrée, I chose their dried chili chicken. It wasn’t as “dry” as I am used to with this particular dish and it was loaded with veggies, wayyyy more veggies than chicken, in fact. There was hardly any chicken in it, but the veggies had a nice flavor to them, clearly the dish was kissed by the flame as it was being wok’d up. The sauce was nothing but oil, and there was a lot of it. I’m used to the dry chili stir fries having oil, but this was too much. Overall, it was still a decent visit and if I were to return, I’d definitely choose a different entrée, but I could see coming here again for Chinese food. Oh, and I read several posts about them being very slow to serve, but I didn’t experience that at all… In fact, I was in a hurry, as I only had 35 minutes for lunch and I told them this up front and, even though they were really busy, they accommodated me perfectly.
