It was my first time there. I was working right around the corner and just stumbled across the place. Very nice inside I got original fried chicken and chicken fried rice to go. Both were very good. I'll definitely go back and expand on the menu a little bit my next time.
I ordered takeout from Pelicans Chicken. I've been to other restaurants in the area, so I figure I'd try this spot out. I ordered the Spicy Soy Garlic (boneless thighs), Pa-Dak, and Chicken Fried Rice. (See pictures.)The Chicken Fried Rice was disappointing. At almost $14, expected more. It lacked seasoning; it was bland. I wish they either used more soy sauce or even added salt. I ended up adding salt and drizzling in sesame oil to help things out. Also, the boneless chicken breast in the rice were very dry. I do believe the texture, temperature, and ingredient ratio were perfect, but not enough to save this dish. The Pa-Dak is typically served with a soy-mustard drizzle and scallions. I found the chicken well seasoned, but overcooked, even the dark meat was dry. The scallions were fresh, however the sauce lacked balance, with little soy flavour and tasting almost entirely of horseradish. The Spicy Soy Garlic wings were incredible. They were perfectly seasoned, extra crispy, and juicy. You could taste the ginger and garlic in the chicken.Lastly, the staff was really nice. They were helpful when I had questions and generally very warm in our exchanges. I'd come back here, but stick to the boneless thighs. Thankfully there are many rubs and sauces to choose from.
I eat pelicana regularly. The chicken is mostly. There were a phase where it wasn't consistant but recent my orders have been pretty consistent and good. Rest of the menu can use some improvement. Pancakes, buldak, and taco were disappointment repeatedly. Jimdak anc gizzard were pretty good too.Recently I noticed the sauce size ($2) they delivered became half the size. That's a bummer for whole chicken order. The small one is recent sauce container vs the bigger one is from previous order. Believe it or not, this irritates me enough not to order online anymore for now.
Great food with a very particular flavor not found in other restaurants. We the different sauces for the chicken and the Bulgogi is the best in the area, and I am empowered to comment this because I live for a year in South Korea. Jazmine was great and the owner, which I don't know his name, was super attentive and welcome us like true friends. Go there and see for yourself.
In an area surrounded by what seems like unlimited options for korean fried chicken, Pelicana really stands out! Their chicken is always well-cooked and crispy with a crunch in every bite, and even their non-chicken items are also fire. We got the spicy level two wings, soy garlic wings, their double crispy wings, chicken sliders, bulgogi dupbap and rose dukbokki. Everything was super good but the spicy wings and the rose dukbokki were definitely our favorites! Thank you and shout out to Pelicana for the great food :)) I've been a loyal customer since I moved to the DMV & will definitely be back again for more!!
We’ve been coming here for over a year. We’ve always had the best service and the value for the food vs cost is fantastic. The food never disappoints. Check it out when you’re in Annandale.
Amazing fried chicken! Extra crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside ?The service was excellent and Patrick (either the owner or manager, not sure) was really friendly. My only complaint was that the spicy soy garlic sauce was not spicy, but it was delicious.
Great chicken sandwiches and yummy soju cocktails. I got the ramen that mimics one seen in Squid Games (Netflix Series).
First time going to this restaurant. We ordered a 24 pieces wings because we thought the wings will be your standard size, but when we got the order they were huge! I went with a group of 4 and we had a left over 8 pieces because they were that big and filling. We got the honey spicy, honey garlic, soy garlic, and sweet spicy. I personally liked the soy garlic since it was more on the drier side. Our servers are very friendly and gave us good suggestions on what to order. They have some trendy music playing in the background and seems like a good spot to hang.
The person taking our order was nice but didn’t have any knowledge of the menu. The fried chicken was not good at all and the chicken meat is pink which they claimed to be normal. The mac n cheese was a NO. The fried rice was ok. It was fresh, just needed a little Soy sauce. Overall wouldn’t eat here again.
