A very traditional Korean restaurant. If you are not familiar with this you might be confused. Wait staff is super efficient but not chatty. Food is good. And on the exotic side.
Not bad Korean style sushi and sashimi place in VA. I visited this place several times and had good experience. Their lunch menu is pretty good, but I usually order large special. It could easily feed 2-3 people. You get a variety of small dishes before getting the sashimi platter. Most of the small dishes were okay. Some dishes tasted like they weren’t made to order. Salmon and yellowtail were fresh, but tuna was not fresh at all. Other sashimis were pretty fresh and delicious though. Dining service definitely could use some improvements. Servers rarely came to our table and checked on us. Apparently, there is another one opened in Centerville recently.
We had a reservation for a group of 8 ppl. We ordered 2 sets of large sashimi platter, we endes up paying close to $800. So for the quality of the sides that come along the platter was just decent, mediocre, maybe okay for DMV area. As for the freshness of the sashimi and other seafood items, it was horrendous. In fact, 5 of us actually got sick that night after dinner. When we brought up the issue, one of the waitress just told us everything is fresh because they got delivery same day. Even if that is true, it is also the restaurants responsibility to inspect the goods received from their vendor prior to serving, especially during hot summer months. If we could tell that it was not fresh and several of us got sick, then I am sure there was an issue with the foods they served. My opinion, save yourself from potential hazard of food poisoning. I am never going back again.
Despite of decreased serving size comparing to before, food itself was fresh and delicious. Foods came out really fast.
This is where to go if you like good skidashi (스키다시). I love the white fish sashimi platter. The lobster sashimi is yummy... the live octopus legs are just so-so to me, but a older generations love it. Comes with a pot of spicy seafood soup at the very end with hand torn dough (수제비).
I read all the negative reviews and most are accurate. As soon as we walked in they gave us 1 hr to eat, point out the most expensive item on the menu, pushed the food through, dont explain much, most didn't speak much English. I read all the negative reviews and prepared for a very low expectations dining experience, we were not disappointed, the final bill was 325$ for 4 people, it is way over priced.
Old '70 Korean sashimi restaurant, the sashimi in hoedupbap smells small-stream water, the taste is below/much below than expected. Gaboja means 'Let's go' but don't want to go again.
Amazing spread. Wonderful staff.
I ordered as take out. Even though i ordered over 300 dollars worth of sushi, it only came with soup and side sauce. No other side dishes were given.
I ordered medium Ga Bo Ja Sashimi Combo (Medium with seafood) came with a lot of side dishes. The sashimi was so fresh and tasty.
