This used to be my favorite Korean-Chinese restaurant, but this place really fell off lately. Not sure the management or chefs changed, but the food has not been as good compared to earlier years. I ordered jangban black noodle and gan poong gi. Black noodle was just okay and gan poong gi had too much breading and not enough meat. Neither of them tasted fresh and the chicken was fried a while ago. Also, people who work here were not friendly or attentive during the dinner. It’s really sad how this place has become. Hopefully, they can turn it around.

Came here for their famous black bean noodle jajangmyeon. My friends and I got the large serving, jjam bbong with jajangmyeon and chicken tangsuyuk. The tangsuyuk was delicious. The wings were tender and seasoned really well. We ate everything and its plenty of food for 3 people. The jajangmyeon and seafood soup lacked some flavor. My friends and I thought the food was kind of bland. We liked the portion size and how you can do half and half combos. Fun place to enjoy some authentic Korean Chinese fusion dishes.

The best food in town! You gotta try it if you like Korean-Chinese food!!!

We used to love Tansuyuk very much. And i have ordered it for pick up today. Unfortunately, it was awful. Chicken was hard to eat, very dried. And the cause doesn’t tastes at all. Will never come back

INTRO: Choon Hwa Won has the BEST black bean noodles (called ja jang myun in Korean) in ALL of the DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia) area. (If you disagree, please DM me because I'm always searching for better food.) Not only are their portions of the black bean noodles GIGANTIC, but also their flavor is SUPERB. I've been to a few Korean restaurants where the black bean sauce hadn't penetrated the noodles, so the flavor is immensely lacking. You don't experience the harmonious synergy that exists between the noodles and the sauce, which manifests as a lackluster and unsatisfying meal. As a second-generation Korean-American who loves embracing his cultures cuisines, no black bean noodle experience is complete without a serving of sweet and sour chicken or pork (called tang soo yook in Korean). Their tang soo yook is perfectly fried to a golden crisp, and the consistency of their sauce is perfectly balanced - not too watery and not too viscous. Personally, I prefer to dip tang soo yook in the sauce rather than pouring the sauce all over the fried meat because it helps retain their crispy, breaded exterior. Although I reside in NC, I dine at Choong Hwa Won every time I drive to NOVA (Northern Virginia), and sometimes, I eat here multiple times per trip. THAT'S how good they are.ENTREE 1: Ja-Jang Myun ($8.99 - Regular) - I said this before, and I'll say it again. These are the BEST black bean noodles you'll eat in the DMV area. The prices are cheaper if you dine here during their lunch hours. I always get the LARGE option for the black bean noodles, which cost $3 more, but it's worth it since they basically give you 50% more noodles.ENTREE 2: Chicken Tang-soo-yook ($18.99) - This price is for during the weekdays. During the weekends, it'll cost you a few more dollars. As seen above, you HAVE to get tang soo yook when you get the black bean noodles. It's literally yin and yang. It's a crime not to order them together because they pair perfectly with each other. The sweetness of the fried, battered meat complements the saucey, umami black bean noodles.VENUE: The interior is a bit outdated, but honestly, who cares what the inside of the restaurant looks like when the food is this good.PARKING: They have their own parking lot. More than enough parking spots for their customers.WORTH IT? YES, YOU WON'T REGRET IT. If you go during lunch hours on a weekday, you'll save some money compared to dinner or weekend hours.PLEASE NOTE: THEY AUTOMATICALLY ADD AN 18% GRATUITY TO YOUR BILL. I was shocked that they automatically added an 18% gratuity to my bill for a party of 2 during weekday lunch hours. I'm not sure about their reasoning behind this, especially since it's the furthest thing from fine dining, but anyways, consider yourself warned.4 stars because of their added gratuity during weekday lunch hours for a party of 2.

Ordered the half and half and they brought us the wrong food. The Spanish waitress was very rude and insisted that’s what I ordered. I politely asked her to make it again and she said she would have to charge me for the first one and that they were very busy. I asked for the manager and said she was the manager. We have been going there for years and the quality of food, high prices and automatic high tips are why we will not go back there again. Most of all the Spanish waitress attitude was unacceptable!!!

Ordered the half half meal. The pork dish I ordered tasted old and felt like chewing on rubber. I politely asked the owner and told her that it tasted old and like chewing on rubber, she just said "look how busy this place is, how can you assume we are using old ingredients." After the meal we paid and they came back saying we already included the gratuity saying that "people dont pay enough tips during covid." Horrible food, horrible response and service from the owner herself. Will never go back.

Serving used menu papers, $28 dish didn't contained what was on the menu...chambong broth didn't nearly taste as regular chambong, black noodles were ok...don't know maybe a chef had a bad day or what...never go back here

I will never go to this place again!!!!Terrible service and terrible service. We ordered a sea cucumber dish but didn’t have any sea cucumber. She said they ran out. I told her then why didn’t you tell us. Another older woman came to say old she is a cashier. The owner kept lying to us. Why couldn’t they just say I’m sorry it’s my fault and will knock off ten bucks rather kept on lying. I’m Korean and eat here often. I will tell all my friends not to eat here anymore.

food is really nicely priced and i always go with my family here. jjangmyeon, seafood pancake, and the spicy squid are our go to orders. staff is really nice and let me take an old promotional itzy poster home lol. i have no idea why this place has 1 star on yelp. we gotta change that. really good food!
