Zento's is probably my favorite sushi spot in the National Capital Region; so I can't believe I have not posted a review before now. My husband and I have been customers since around 2017 and before the pandemic it was our go-to happy hour place. Sadly, during the pandemic, we did not make it here as often, but we are glad to be back now. I do recommend a reservation because they can get busy, but they also can usually accommodate walk-ins. The staff is super friendly and the prices are really reasonable; especially if you come for happy hour. The biggest reason I love Zento's is the quality of the fish. Their sashimi is consistently top quality...the kind where the fish practically melts in your mouth. I also love their rotating specialty rolls and again, I cannot understate how great their happy hour pricing is for sashimi, appetizers, and drinks. The parking garage and relatively close access to Braddock Road Metro station are a bonus for this area. I highly recommend Zento and plan to come back soon. Thanks for a great experience every time! :-)
I sampled the Chirashi on this stop and really liked it. The fish was fresh and well cut. The variety of fish was well picked and the rice was properly done. I was extremely happy to find this spot as I was craving sushi and did not want the grocery store variety that is too common these days. This was a nice find and I will definitely stop back in if I’m in town again.
This sushi restaurant it was fine, no more than that. They have good prices but the food it doesn't feel like fresh food. It's better to come in the happy hour time (5:00 - 7:00 pm) with some friends and enjoy the moment here.About the waiters, they are very kind and respectfully with good customer service.
Very average, we ordered takoyaki, yakitori, gyoza, terriyaki chicken bento, yellowtail nigiri, and the roll combo. The nigiri and takoyaki never arrived. The quality of the raw fish was ok, but nothing special. The gyoza was the best thing that we had, and we had it both pan seared and fried- Absolutely amazing. Also I think the salad dressing tasted a little nutty so if you have a nut allergy you should definitely clarify with staff.
While they have a good selection on the menu if your not familiar with Japanese food you could be lost. I would definitely recommend the place but familiarize yourself first.Food was good and service is above average
When I lived in old town this was my favorite sushi place. I think I ordered the tuna poke salad at least once a week :) Miss the lovely people there and the food so much!
Stopped in on a weekday and enjoyed their happy hour menu, which goes till 8 pm and takes a $1 off a few items. Enjoyed their Karage and chashu ramen, which both came out pretty quickly. Only downside was the homeless guy that briefly came in and left a pretty hefty stench. Spraying to cover it up made it worse. That said, I would like to go back there again. If you drive over, there is garage parking available.
The ramen is pretty solid and I would order again. The chicken teriyaki though is the worst I’ve ever had in my life. The chicken was reminiscent of the Thanksgiving leftovers I have to hide in a sandwich because they’re gross on their own. Just plain unseasoned meat, I couldn’t even taste the sauce. The vegetables and mashed potato lump (?) we’re completely unseasoned. They must do some things really well and sometimes things really poorly. Overall 3/5
Unsatisfactory food. Slow service staff. Dirty looking establishment. I recommend going somewhere else for japanese meal.
