Pros - The bagels ate very goodCons - Despite being open for quite a while now this place still cannot keep up with the demand. While that may appear like it’s because they are in such high demand (partially) it’s more due to the business simply not figuring out how to provide enough product to the customer base. I have not been able to get bagels the past 3 times I’ve tried and at this point I am simply not returning. They’ve been open for well over a year, they should have figured this issue out by now. Being sold out is a cool marketing concept to announce in the beginning but eventually you need to rise to the demand or people will start looking else where like me. I’m really not trying to mean, I love the product but I’m just over it at this point.
Just absolutely delicious!!!
Finally got to try the talked-about Chewish bagels on a chilly and blustery morning. There will, without a doubt, be a queue on the weekends. It's important to know that online ordering closes on Friday for each weekend. If you want to try their bagels on Saturday or Sunday, you must go in person, wait outside, and place your order. It's confusing for people that have placed online orders, there should be better signage for pickup locations, especially because it looks like they are cutting other patrons in line. Hopefully their ordering flexibility can be expanded in the future. Now on to the reason why Alexandrians dutifully wait for these filling yeast rolls. The bagels definitely have the appropriate amount of "chew" and soft interior. I've had my fair share of NJ/NY bagels and these definitely stack up well but I wouldn't go as far as to say they are "the best" in the DMV.There's a notable lack of certain bagel flavors (it's possible that simplicity is better). And we get that avocados are expensive but give the people what they want! Avos should be a staple ingredients in breakfast bagel sandwiches. But the coffee is great! Some improvements could be made like efficiency of the ordering process and expanding the menu but the Chewish Deli will satisfy you bagel craving.
Really good bagels and fantastic smear. Every weekend you can tell the people in the neighborhood live by it by the length of the line. The line moves very fast. The staff is wonderful and I wish I could give an extra star to the owner for being a fellow Boston Sports Fan.
I have been waiting for a great bagel place in Old Town for a long time. I had Chewish recommend to me by many people and finally gave it a shot and they did not disappoint. This place is the real deal. Fantastic bagels, the deli meats were full of flavor and the staff were fantastic. I will definitely be back.
The absolute worst egg and cheese I’ve ever had. The egg was severely over cooked. I ordered American cheese but whatever tiny bit of cheese they had on there was white…at least I hope that was cheese... So essentially I paid $7 for a bagel. The food also wasn’t ready at the pickup time. It was a Wednesday morning at 11 so it’s not like it was a breakfast or lunch rush.My latte, however, was delicious and ready on time.
Fantastic bagels and quick service. I got a whitefish salad on everything bagel and it was as delicious as it could be. A perfect Friday morning treat!
Thank goodness I finally found delicious bagels! Moving to DC 20 years ago, I would have to smuggle bagels from my hometown bagel shop on Long Island. No more!! Now I don't have to wait months for an awesome Bacon Egg & Cheese on an everything bagel.
My favorite bagels in Virginia and the DC area. Moving from NJ to VA, it was hard to find quality bagels. I was so happy to discover Chewish. Their bagels are delicious— I HIGHLY recommend the sunrise reuben (pictured here). In addition to great bagels, the staff is so friendly and they get their coffee from Swings, which means it’s great too.
Last had these bagels from S Washington St location and they are as good as I remember and served up by friendly staff. Cannot wait until their King St location opens!
