My husband found this restaurant on Google and it got great reviews so we figured we would try it. Being from Louisiana I got pretty excited to see a lot of menu options that reminded me of home.My husband got the Country Fried Steak. The breading was basically burnt and they used a brown gravy. I ordered the jambalaya pasta. It looked good, but did not have much of a Cajun or creole flavor to it. The menu stated it would have andouille sausage, but it tasted like polish sausage.I know I can’t expect to have true Louisianan or southern food outside of those areas. However, they shouldn’t advertise these things in the way that they are. The food was decent, but not worth the price. Service was okay as well.

So before I start, I would like to say that my husband found this restaurant and mentioned that they had some southern food. Which I was excited because, we are from the south. I really was happy to see cajun options. I love cajun food. Well if you are looking for good or at least decent I will not recommend this location. I ordered the Jambalaya Pasta and will say that I was very disappointed, no flavor and bland. My husband ordered the catfish platter and it was okay. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. We also ordered fried pickles and not a fan. They were cut really thin. The side sauce was very tasty.

The young man that was hosting was really friendly and was working hard. The food was okay. Crab dip and salmon were underwhelming. The sauce for the salmon was watery and the peppers were barely cooked. The nachos and ribs were good. The Mezcal Old Fashion was not good at all. My husband ended up just getting a jack and coke. The server was just okay as well. When I asked for lemon for my water he said there weren’t any cut so he wasn’t able to bring them to the table, which to me was a very horrible thing to say to a customer’s request. He literally never brought lemons to the table although I saw others with them and some came with items on the menu. I didn’t complain about anything. I just will never come back to this restaurant. I expected more from an establishment with 4.4 stars on google.

First, this place has a level of service that is pre-COVID. Service is fast, sharp, and skillful. Food is good, sort of a Cajun theme. The fried pickles are sweet and really good, and their remoulade sauce is outstanding. I had the meatloaf with tomato gravy- it came with greens that was OK and had a mash versus the advertised redskin potatoes, but it worked. My wife had an oyster poboy that didn't have usual poboy-style French bread but was OK. Price for two mains and an app was a modest $45, good for Old Town. Looking forward to going back when I can actually try their bloody mary.

DC restaurants never cease to amaze me, they almost always delicious and worth it!So, I ended up here for a work event and glad I did! I had an adult beverage, Frickles (fried pickles), low county shrimp and sausage, and the peach pound cake with butterscotch syrup and vanilla ice cream!Frickles- were not made with the traditional dill but the bread and butter version. It was a welcomed surprise and I couldn’t stop eating them! Crispy, salty, sweet, and tangy!Low County Shrimp and Sausage- I chose this fish because I love grits! Am I glad I did, it was marvelous and I ate every bite. One gripe, those shrimps were not from any “low country” I suspect they were from Costco and farmed somewhere in Taiwan… but I don’t have any proof.Dessert- Peach pound cake with ice cream dressed with homemade butterscotch! I wish it would’ve had a better balance of peach pound cake to ice cream, but the butterscotch syrup made the dessert. If I was on death row and this my my last dessert I’d die content!

Good food, great atmosphere inthe dining room. Wait staff was engaged and attentive. Would definitely visit again when in town.

If you live South of Alexandria (Lorton, Woodbridge, etc) do yourself a favor and head down Route 1, make a right on Mt. Vernon Hwy to Route 400 and take a scenic drive to Southern 815. When 400 becomes S. Washington street, you’ll find this gem on your left. They said they had the best Catfish Po Boy on this side of the Mississippi and I believe them. The French roll was so soft and flaky. The catfish fried crispy and seasoned lightly as not to overpower the taste of the fresh fish. If you want to turn it up a notch, take the pickled coleslaw that comes with the meal and put it on top of your Po Boy for a platinum level experience. It came with crispy fries as well. I’ll definitely be visiting again to try other menu items. We also had the fried green tomatoes which rival any I’ve tried in the area. I almost withdrew a star, however, because I didn’t like the peach pound cake at all. But we waited to eat it when we got home. Maybe that affected it. I don’t know. The ice cream was great though which is why I continued on with the five stars.

Very comfortable atmosphere although gf thought walls & fixtures could be a tad cleaner. Outdoor seating available but too cold this day. Shared spicy fried chicken sandwich (comes w/fries) and side of kale collards served with. Chicken was crispy on outside, moist inside. Fries were crispy good. Collards made with kale very good and cornbread was moist/sweet. An enjoyable late lunch.

We have lived in Alexandria for nearly 20 years; our friends rave about this restaurant. So, we tried it for the first time and it was an utter disappointment. Completely mediocre bar food served and prepared as if it were a diner. Tired dark dingy interior desperately in need of a complete makeover. A busy bar scene, outdoor seating, and a dark side interior. Ultimately, I don’t understand what the hype is all about and why our friends keep coming here. This will definitely be our last visit unless there is a complete overhaul of food quality. Too many great restaurants in this town to choose from for this prime location to have such mediocre and disappointing food. I went to college in New Orleans, and I assure you nothing about any of these New Orleans themed food items comes even close to being genuine. The oyster Poboy sandwich was completely lame. The salads were soggy, poorly prepared and improperly prepped. The chili seems to be straight out of the can. Bottom line: this is basically a diner charging Alexandria restaurant prices. Definitely not worth the visit.

This is a top five favorite for me in the DMV. I have been coming since 2001 and this restaurant has stood the test of time. While I don't sit at the bar as much as I did when I was in my 20s, they still have some of the nicest bartenders around.Nowadays, when I visit I am with my family for dinner. We came for my birthday most recently and had a really great time. The service was great, friendly, and attentive. Our dinner was excellent. We started with the pulled pork nachos, the best you will find. My wife had the jambalaya (sauce was excellent) and I had the low country shrimp and sausage. The low country had a lot of protein and the gravy and cheddar grits we're so good I could not wait for the leftovers the next day.If I had one wish for this place, that would be to bring back the low country shortcake to the menu. Still one of my all-time favorites!
