Had a taste for barbecue and decided to try out Rockland barbecue. The baby back ribs, barbecue chicken and fried okra was delicious. You can taste a little bit of spice on the marinade cooked over charcoal. There is outside seating and curbside ordering.
Ok I’m impressed. Tucked away but well with the trip. We had the three meat platter with cold slaw and Mac and cheese- large servings and great tasting BBQ.
This restaurant is extraordinary and spacious, the menu was enchanting and the rates were very reasonable. fast, productive service and very welcoming staff. Will definitely recommend this spot.
We had a family event outdoors in Fort Hunt Park and Rocklands catered the event. The staff showed up early, helped set up, stayed late and helped break down. In between, they were polite, helpful, and wore masks and gloves at all times. The food, especially the brisket, was fantastic. They gave us the leftovers to take home and I have been eating brisket for dinner almost every night. Couldn't have gone better. I highly recommend their catering service.
Being in the mood for barbecue and also responsible for bringing dinner over to my mother's house, I decided that placing an order online at this place was the way to go. I could easily pick it up on my way over to mom's. I placed the order through Yelp and the process could not have been easier. So simple to just pick the items to order, put them in my "basket" and place the order. Was told the order would take about 45 mins, but it was ready in less than 30. I swung by their location, and the food was ready to go. Since I had already paid via CC, it was a 30 second affair inside the restuarant. At my mom's, we unpacked all the food, and it looked like way more food than we ordered, although the size of the sides left a little to be desired. So keep that in mind. If you're sharing, get some extra sides, as they are really only meant for one. We got a full rack of baby back ribs. The meat just fell off the bone, and they tasted great. We also go a pound of BBQ pork, along with some potato rolls and coleslaw, and we "made" our own pork sandwiches. Very, very tasted, all meat, with very little fatty pieces. I would say the food is good and it certainly quenched my craving for BBQ. I'd be happy to order from here again. P.S. - Looks like they also have AMPLE outdoor seating here.
When you have to argue with the staff to buy a large soup - you know it is time to stop going here! Shame on you all! I guess they got back at me by outing all broth in it!!
I've had Barbeque ... there's way too much Smoke on the meat chicken, lamb brisket, ribs ..that leaves a nasty taste in your mouth too much ....Hickory must be a new Pitmaster...... get rid of them.... don't waste your money is plenty of other Barbeque joints
ALLERGY WARNING: Rocklands serves shelled peanuts so please consider that before visiting. Rocklands is in an "industrial/ warehouse" type of neighborhood, but don't let the location keep you away. Rocklands is an order/ pay/ get served casual bbq joint offering delicious fresh made bbq, tons of side-meal options, and rolls of paper-towels on each table in place of napkins. They also offer numerous beverages from milk to iced teas to draft beers; a little something for everyone and every age! There is limited seating inside (maybe 20 or so seats), with additional seating outside, and also offers take-out.
We decided to go to Rocklands after seeing pictures of the food they serve. We were not disappointed! We had the BBQ chicken and ribs with sides (potato salad, fried okra, greens, and baked beans). Every bite was delicious. The menu is reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. All of the staff were great, too! Food came out quick, hot, and accurate! Only thing I wish was different, the amount of indoor seating they have is very limited. We will be back!
Enjoyed pulled pork, onion rings, grilled corn & wings. Very good food. Great meals with Son-in-law & Grandsons.
