As part of the US Army, I was sustained in Italy many years ago. I have struggled until now to find quality, amazing tasting Italian food. Mamma's Kitchen in Alexandria surpassed all expectations. Every course of the meal was just what you would expect when dining in Italy. Thanks for the great experience and for the memories it brought back.
Just ate here for the first time. Service was excellent with friendly and attentive staff and the food was really nice (my husband and I both had the fettuccini Alfredo with chicken). My picky-eater two year old enjoyed her pita pizza without even putting up the usual fight. It was so lovely eating in the patio, you'd think you were far away from Richmond Hwy. We will be coming back here!
Not going to lie. I came mostly for the ambiance of the patio, which did not disappoint. It feels very magical, like a secret garden. But the food was what will make me come back again. It was so tasty! The halloumi appetizer was amazing. So simple and yet so flavorful. I got the Greek pizza which is basically like a gyro on a pizza and was not disappointed. The dough is really good and the toppings were excellent. Overall, I was really pleased with my experience and look forward to coming back!
This is probably my third favorite place to get pizza in the area and I've tried a lot of pizza places. The flavors of the cheese and sauce are very unique and taste great. The crust is the only reason why I wouldn't put them higher. The prices are decent, slightly higher than most of the other places in the area but worth it. I've only ordered pizza from here but they do have a lot of other options which is nice. The issues I have with this restaurant is that it is very small, and it gets a bit chaotic on the inside on the weekends and Fridays. I don't think they have curbside pickup but they probably should with how busy it gets. The wait times can be a bit long depending on which days you order. They have a pretty large staff and provide good customer service but it can be confusing trying to figure out where to order from, who the wait staff are, and where to pickup orders from.
Other than my wife's beef kabobs lacking any seasoning the food and service were great. Aside from her kabobs were cooked perfectly, and were very moist and tender. Portions were a good size and the food definitely had that delicious home cooked touch. I think the kabobs missing getting seasoned may have been a one off incident. All staff members were attentive and very personable despite how busy it was.
Came here for a family reunion (8 adults) and we ordered a couple of different large pizzas. What we loved about them all were the unique toppings and fabulous crust. Ambience is good, even better if you can snag a patio seat. Service by Cameron was cheerful and efficient. Great place. Will happily return if we’re in the area again.
An interesting mix of Greek and Italian food. We had the stuffed grape leaves, Greek fries and the hummus sampler platter for appetizers. All of the appetizers were very good. They have a wonderful gluten free pizza, surprisingly good cheese steak sandwich, and a tasty Greek salad. The staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
I had stumbled upon this restaurant about a year ago and was so happy to find it again. Family run, clean, good variety of great food, great service, and an absolutely outstanding garden for outside dining. The garden makes this a destination patio in the summer!
Great food made from scratch
If you ever wanted to travel to Italy but can’t, I would suggest coming here instead! My family and I came here recently and has instantly become a family favorite. The dishes are very rich in flavor, great proportion sizes, and the staff are very friendly. We are very lucky to have found this place and i would recommend this to anyone who enjoys authentic Italian food. Will continue coming here for years!
