I used to love coming here before, not anymore! Frankly speaking the place is clean and very nice, the service is NOT friendly at all servers/waiters spend their most time at the bar chatting, you have to find a table yourself and no servers wants to come and take your order, once you order, your order will take 45 minutes or more , the food doesn’t taste good anymore, the owner is busy dancing, drinking and cheering with his friends at the bar, finally make sure and take a good look at your check you will be charged the drink you don’t even get. It’s happened twice on me which they don’t even sorry….
Amazing food! There aren't a lot of restaurants that translate to good take out but this place does. The food was still warm, despite the 20 minute drive. And just as fresh as if we'd sat and ate there. Highly recommend!
The food was amazing! Every flavor was vibrant and wonderful. However, the service was very slow. It's not a great place if you are in a hurry, but perfect if you're sitting with family and friends, catching up with conversation. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, and it was nice to not feel like we were being rushed.
I am only giving one start because the food was good and I don’t have an option to do zero. Service was so horrible, it seems like the waiters ignored us on purpose. While waving our hands to get attention they made it there business to absolutely ignore us. This is not the first time I am disappointed with the service. They are super picky and ignorant. I think the greater Alexandria is full of Ethiopian restaurants and pretty good food everywhere service is what makes the difference. From what I have observed the last few times Makda had the worst service. I hope you improve on this.
I ordered takeout through Uber eats. It was the first time I ever tried this place. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions of the food and the injera were generous. Super positive experience, and I plan on showing up in person very soon. If I can't show up in person I will order delivery again. They set the bar high, so I hope I get the same stuff the next time.
I’ve ordered from this place countless times. Their vegetarian combo and samosas are my favorite. Depending on the day or time, though, the combo varies on what’s included. Either this or the Ethiopian restaurant next to it are the best in the area, hands down. Super affordable too and always busy.Delivery: Yes
Loved this Ethiopian restaurant. A friend and I decided to try this place out after looking at the many reviews, and we were not disappointed!The food was delicious and cooked to perfection! I would say my favorite of the choices we got was the Awaze Tibs. It's strips of lamb sautéed with onions and peppers. Everything else was great, but the highlight of the meal was definitely the lamb.The environment was very nice and clean. It's a lot bigger inside than what the outside of the restaurant looks like. It's very modern and clean.As for the service, I think the staff could've been a little bit more attentive with water refills, but overall the experience was not bad at all.I'd highly recommend giving this restaurant a try if you're craving Ethiopian cuisine. Solid 4/5 in my books!
I went by for a lunch it’s sad to say the place is disorganized the staff looks overworked maybe not appreciated. The service was slow overall a bad bad place to go to eat Ethiopian food & the second time I had gone with my family before a lot worse this time. I would never go back.
We had the best time at Makeda. The service was impeccable! The server was very hospitable and warm Ms. Ferewoni. She knows what she is doing, very personable. She started with great recommendation of Ethiopian wine (Teje) Then helped us navigate through the menu with awesome suggestions. The classical song followed by a phenomenal singer who took our breath away by her talented voice singing Asters legendary songs. The whole experience exceeded our expectations.Thank you Frewoine for making our night worth it!
