Enjoyed our meal! The onion soup was more cheese than soup but I’m not complaining! The scallops were delightful. Was bit overwhelmed by the closeness of our neighboring tables and all the things on the walls. I also think we annoyed our waiter when we didn’t order any wine but we don’t drink! So oh well.
The food was phenomenal. Ordered the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection, couldn’t believe a side of carrot purée could taste so good. The space is a bit small, but feels cozy and overall was just a great experience. A bit pricey but well worth it. Would definitely recommend!
Only reason I give it 4.4 stars is because its small I had to get out there because its small. I felt like im elbow to elbow and they ran out of french onion soup (only reason I came) I'll try again sometime soon and update. Also you have to make reservations. Service is fantastic ? ? food authentic.
Nice atmosphere, decent food. Escargot was a bit too salty, as was the onion soup. Service was okay - one of the servers snapped at me for not moving my bread plate quickly enough for him to put down my entree? Put a damper on the entire meal. If you want the feel of Paris, nice place.
The food does not disappoint here. From the bread they give you at the start to the leg of lamb or chicken. A tight space but that only adds to the french charm. You can hear what other patrons are saying but not that you are paying attention. A little overpriced but mostly worth it.
Start with the good- the beet salad and potatoes with the entree were good but it might end there. The coq au vin was flavorful but entirely dark meat. The bread was typical of a grocery store but the chocolate mousse dessert was insulting. It was literally a 1/4 inch of a slice of some mousse loaf. Everyone at our table laughed when it came.
We have been going to this restaurant for 33 years! We love it. Lunch and dinner are both great. We've only seen it improve over the years. It's always been good but it's even better. The dishes have become more sophisticated. We joined friends here for a lovely dinner before the holidays. We specifically chose Le Refuge because we can always count on a great meal. We had rockfish, sole and filet plus first courses , drinks, wine and desserts. Elias was our server and he was charming. He was patient with our bad jokes and even added a few himself. He took photos for us, laughed with us and his pleasant personality added to an already wonderful evening. We've lived in different countries due to work and Le Refuge is always there when we return to the US. We'll keep coming back.
un vrai restaurant français! Boef Wellington was perfect. The duck was..perfect. The wine, bourbon, mousse.. all perfect. The service exceptional. Will return often when in old town.make sure you make reservations tho. Cozy place. Fills up fast.
Fantastic restaurant if you want a true French evening. The place is cozy and full of life. I had a special, the coq au vin. It was amazing. I paired with with a glass of their cote de rhone. It was delicious in every sense.
We loved our meal! Cozy comfortable casual setting. Superb service from Elias. We had the house champagne cocktails with a delightful raspberry and wonderful seafood. Shrimp and salmon were fresh and delicious. Make reservations well in advance.
