great place. great food for sushi lovers and non sushi lovers. great choices aswell for the kiddos:)
My husband and I would consider ourselves regulars at Hinata. The sushi is so fresh and the vibe of the restaurant is so relaxed. Brandon has always given us such great service. We love this place. BTW you must the steamed gyoza, its so good!!
Best sushi restaurant in Alexandria. So happy to have found it!! Freshest fish, generous portions. Service was friendly but a tiny bit slow…totally worth it.
I wandered in on NYE because i was picking someone up from DCA. Though the seating was largely empty (thanks omicron) I quickly realized how very busy they are- I didn't see one of about eight employees stop moving at all. That is too say: they're popular and move a ton of to-go orders. Reasonable prices, and lots of fish!Paying a little more attention, I noticed that their menu doesn't have any "fishy" fish, which makes me like them a lot. I see too much questionably labeled fish at seafood places, so I'm glad these guys are straightforward. You don't need my review to tell you the sushi is great- that should be obvious from all the others. I'll only add that it's not too flamboyantly covered in sauce, etc., so if you actually like sushi, you'll love this place. If you don't, they have plenty of other things and rolls deep fried in tempura or whatever. Either way, enjoy.
Best sushi, and I've gotten sushi about 3 times a month for the last 5 years. I've tried my fair share and this places at the top. The Kani salad is different than what I'm used to but the Bulgogi bun and miso soup are to die for. Great service too.
Stay away.
I like all the white meat raw fish more than red meat ones
After searching for 5 years for a really good Japanese restaurant in Northern Virginia that offers tasty sushi and sashimi, I found Hinata. Their prices are cheaper than other places around here comparing to HIGH QUALITY produces they use. I have been going there or get take outs once a week now, and forgot all about other Japanese restaurants in Old Town that people talk about. This one is much better. It is a gem!
We ate never disappointed! Our favorite sushi restaurant!
Decided to try this place for the first time. Had an allergy to one of their soups (no soup description on the menu so didn’t know til I got it)and the server (Yosita) was so kind and apologetic. She came back a few minutes later saying they made a mini allergy friendly bowl for me. It was so sweet. We tried the Bulgogi Bun- It was AMAZING. Best bun I’ve ever had in the area. Chicken Katsu was fantastic and perfect in every way. Shiitake rolls were perfectly bite sized and well done. 10/10 for this place. New all time favorite in old town for this kind of cuisine.
