Had a dinner with colleagues and was expecting quality seafood. I was disappointed. Ordered ceviche as an appetizer, which should be a slam-dunk for a restaurant that advertises fresh seafood. Theirs was truly awful. The seafood was anything but fresh, mushy actually, without a bit of taste. That’s hard to do with a dish that was supposed to be comprised of fresh fish, marinated in lime juice and seasoned with jalapeño, or similar spice. My main course was halibut. The taste was better, but the fish was not fresh. They never should have converted this pasta restaurant to a fish house.

Grilled seafood was great. Very fresh and cooked perfectly. Was a little salty but it maybe good for some people. If you are on low sodium diet, please let the server know when you place the order.Dishes were also priced reasonably. For dinner, you can have it between $50-70 (food + 1 drink).Their brunch menu looked very interesting. Will try it next time!

Our go to spot for a relaxing day out with some fresh oysters. Their upstairs outdoor space is very nice, and has a good views of Alexandria. Even when crowded, does not feel overly packed as we still had good space at our table. Oysters are fresh and vary in location, which can be really great depending on what you like. Drinks are reasonable and they have a good selection. Fun time, good atmosphere.

Great setup! Looking forward to having draft ?

Great Place !! We really had good time and good food !We were seating in the terrasse upstairs and it is nice organized. We had a brunch. The tuna Tartare was delicious, spicy and well-balanced. The shrimp and grits is delicious, with some pieces of sausages. The Eggs Benedictines are sweet and tasty, very good as well. The Service was good, on time, good advices also. We had a good experience there and really good time !We recommend this place !

First time I have dined at new location was tonight. My first complement is for the hostess. I made a reservation on Resy the only way to do so but made it for wrong night inadvertently. They seated us nonetheless even though they were fairly busy. I appreciated that service. Nor for the food. Menu was much more limited than since last time I ate at the restaurant but certainly adequate variety. Quality of the food was good, not great. The Cesar salad was 4star. Fresh. Hot all the right notes. Tempura soft shell crabs were presentable but the batter was in no way good tempura —not light but a l little to heavy and over cooked. Onion rings remain very good, definitely 4 Stars for them. Wine. Hood selection by bottle and glass. Service. I know that the pandemic has caused real issues here but enough letting that be the pass on service. We ordered drinks and waited a long time for them. We ordered our meal when drinks came fearing delay would follow but it didn’t. Food arrived in a reasonable time. What no othered me was the way our dishes were taken. We were rushed to hand our plates to the bus woman. And really by that time there were empty tables so it wasn’t so others could be seated. I didn’t like that. Bottom line yes it is a hood restaurant. Yes it is worth your visit. But don’t expect great food or service.

Love the new location for Hank’s in Old Town. They have a great rooftop dining area that offers views of the surrounding area. The brunch menu isn’t huge, but has some great options. The frittata was better than expected and the star of the show was the fried oyster on top (of course, this is an oyster bar, after all). The huevos rancheros were also fantastic (not mushy thanks to lightly frying the tortilla and using a thick refried bean mix).It looks like the rooftop is equipped for both the warm Virginia summers with fans but also the cooler seasons since they have outdoor heaters set up.If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a go. Definitely worth the trip. I want to come back for happy hour.

Everyone really enjoyed their food. We had raw oysters, fried oysters, scallops, and lobster pot pie. Wish we could have gone back a second night. waaay better than the other oyster bar on the wharf!

We are in Alexandria for a conference and had dinner at hanks oyster bar. Great food and excellent service.

This last visit was no different than previous ones, great. Hank's is moving to a new location in two days but we made a reservation to give it one last go. The service was great but I forgot our waiter's name - he was timely, helpful, and very nice. The best entrée of the night is the mixed seafood grill - you won't be disappointed.
