This place is a neighborhood gem. They have great coffee and other drinks. Food is fantastic. The ambience is great as well. The owners are always warm and everyone is always ready to help. Service is great as well.Warning - there are many times when the line is long, please be patient. It will be so worth it. (I personally never waiting too long for my latte or anything else I have ordered.)

The coffee and pastries are phenomenal. I just wish they had an adequate warmer — the pastries often come back cold even if toasted twice.

Always a great place/food

Grounded Coffee is a perfect place for a great coffee, French type desserts & croissants. This place has a good vibes with an exceptional and friendly staff.

This local coffee shop is definitely a staple on telegraph. I love the décor and atmosphere, there are lots of great places to sit. I'm a barista myself and I have worked at multiple local shops in old town Alexandria. The espresso is (usually) dialed in perfectly and the coffee beans have a great taste! My only complaint is the service. I totally get having to wait for over the usual 3 minutes it takes for a latte to be made when its busy, but when there is ONE person in front of me, I shouldn't have to wait over 10 minutes. I would have totally disregarded the wait if someone would have said, "it'll be out shortly" or "I apologize for the wait". Instead I was left wondering if they forgot about me... while one guy was just carelessly filling up a coffee urn. This isn't just a one time occurrence, its happened quite a few times. I rarely complain about a wait because I understand local coffee shops aren't supposed to run like a fast food Starbucks, but some sensitivity to a customers time would be nice to see here.

In the area working and needed a quick bite and some caffeine. I saw this coffee shop was close by and decided to give them a try. First impressions - it’s a large space with a variety of seating options ranging from cozy sofas to bar tables and regular two and four person tables. The decor is French themed with mini hot air balloons hanging from the ceiling. In addition to pastries (which were mostly gone when I was there) they offer hot and cold sandwiches, salads and other more substantial dishes. There was one barista and several parties ahead of me so I had a short wait to look around and decide on a drink. I chose the seasonal cinnamon snowflake latte to accompany a cinnamon pecan roll. I wasn’t asked if I wanted the roll warmed and it probably should have been served that way. There was plenty of cinnamon flavor but the pastry itself was hard and would have benefitted from warming. The coffee had a pleasant cinnamon and white chocolate flavoring but was missing a good bold coffee flavor to back it up. I wanted to love the food and coffee as much as I enjoyed the atmosphere and pleasant barista but it just wasn’t up to par so I had to dock them down to 4 stars. Grounded, you need better beans and if you’re going to advertise pastries you should keep the case stocked.

Amazing atmosphere, absolutely wonderful owners and top notch food ☺️ The coffee was perfect, everything was perfectly made, food was fresh with real ingredients. They really know what they are doing. Well worth the hour drive from where we live. ❤️

The BEST pastries we have ever eaten, and we travel a lot! We tried an assortment- pain au chocolate, spinach + cheese, egg-filled croissants, cranberry scone… Everything just melts in your mouth! The lattes were delicious too, and our son loved his mango smoothie. The ambiance was cozy and service excellent. We can see why it’s so popular! Bravo!

Best turkey and cranberry with Brie. Amazing. Great seating, perfect independent coffee shop with some great bakery goodies.
