The day we were visiting Alexandria our waitress was so unwelcoming that I was ready to leave and go elsewhere. Yet, when she came back to take the order second time, she was in a better mood to help with the food selection. ?♀️ I guess we all have our moments. The food was amazing. It was worth us staying.
First visit to this restaurant & we are impressed. Read mixed reviews about the restaurant before going, so was skeptical. But glad that we tried. We didn't try too many things but whatever we tried was amazing. We started off with chatpate spicy and it does complete justice to its name. The rice puff & noodles chat was tangy, fresh and spicy. My kiddo loves tandoori chicken but has been disappointed too many times because in most places although it looks good, taste will be bland. But here, he couldn'tstop talking about how yummy the sizzling tandoori chicken was. Myself & hubby shared shrimp biryani and it was flavorful and amazing. Will definitely recommend & I will be visiting again soon. ?
We came to this restaurant after reading all the good reviews but I am so disappointed!! The food is very average (doesn’t deserve 4.7 rating) . We ordered chicken momo & chicken tikka kabab , it was ok . The real disaster was chicken chow mein . We asked for medium spicy and it was super super spicy. When we complained about it , the lady was not ready to listen at all . We had to order dal tadka in the end as we Cudnt eat the chicken chow mein. The naan was too oily and was hard like a papad. The paneer makhani was average too. This restaurant is way too expensive and I will not recommend it. The ambience is good no doubt but food very average.
We have been to several Indian restaurants and had an idea of what we wanted, but decided to take the recommendations of the manager (owner.). This turned out well, and everything was great!
A little hard to find if you don't know it is there, Diya is a gem of restaurant. Above the Smokehouse restaurant that used to Echo on Lee Street in Old Town is a great Indian Restaurant. Seriously, some of the best naan, butter chicken and samosas you will ever have. Very generous quantities and nicely spiced. A decent selection of beer as well. It has a really cute, brick spot with chandeliers. Could do a little better with the art work that seemed out of place. We were there on a rainy week night, so it was pretty empty. My only complaint would be the waitress was watching loud videos on her phone while not working. The food, however, was top notch. Will definitely be back.
I don’t normally write reviews, but the food was so good, I had to let the world know.Diya masterfully delivers the Indian cuisine with each dish I tried being exceptional. The food is unbelievably good and unlike any other Indian restaurant in VA. Also, it’s family owned, so no wonder each dish comes out of the kitchen happens to be top notch.I could go on and on and write an article just trying to express how great the food is.A must visit!t
Had an absolutely amazing meal and service at Diya Indian Cuisine - everything was high quality and had the most vibrant flavors that surely satisfied our craving for great Indian food! Definitely will return again and shoutout to the owner for being so welcoming and generous to us!
Well if you're looking for some great Indian food in old town, you've found it. Excellent selection of traditional dishes with plenty of flavor. Chicken Tikka was excellent, naan cooked perfectly, fluffy rice, and samosas to die for. We can't wait to try their whole menu. The interior had a really great aesthetic, we can't wait to come eat inside. We are definitely coming back.
Everything was just amazing. Bimila was great. We had a great family time with my family. Favorite Indian cuisine. Coming from Indian background I assure you the food quality is great. Honestly no idea what the bad comment was about but our food was extraordinary and service was great. Met with the owner and they were so nice.. Thank you sooo much. Definitely coming back again and again.
AMAZING FOOD!!! If you are looking for a good Nepalese food place this is it. I went with my family and they all absolutely loved it.
