I lived in NYC for a number of years, where there’s a diner on practically every corner, and I’ve been to dozens and dozens of dinners in the DMV. So, naturally, I was excited when Bob & Edith’s Diner opened up close to where I live. The ambiance is great. I wish I could say the same for the food. I’ve been here twice, both times choosing breakfast selections off the menu, and both times I’ve been terribly disappointed. I ordered a waffle both times, and both times it was served cold, so it was impossible to spread the butter, which I tried. So, unless you like thick globs of butter, and you really like butter on your waffle, best to opt for something else. The earlier time I ate here I also ordered a side of bacon, which I asked they prepare crispy. It wasn’t crispy and the pig they slaughtered for my bacon is probably thinking, “I gave my life for this?” It was absolutely horrible. Yes, hard to believe bacon could be awful. I really hope someone in management reads this and buys a heat lamp or something. I really, really want to love this place, which I don’t.
I’m local but excited to see Locally-famous Bob&Edith’s open an Old Town location. If you are staying at the hotels near King Street metro, this is a great place to try. It is a classic American diner. Nothing fancy, but very nostalgic and reliable. We took our family for weekend breakfast and everything was as expected. Service was quick, tables turned over pretty frequently. We got there relatively early and didn’t have a wait, but be patient during peak times or try to go early for breakfast. They are open 24/7 so if you arrive very late or are a jetlagged mess, this is your place.
Good food, great staff, and delicious pie. I love diners and am shocked I haven't discovers this one not to far from me. I will be going back again
Most of the staff is great, friendly and helpful. Angel I believe a lead server has always been awesome when he has helped me with my orders. Management is a consistent concern of how they handle stress / flow of business and interact with the guest. There are flashes of the original B&E and how great this location could be.
At 11:30 pm, after a metro ride from a Caps hockey game, it is GREAT to have a place offering a full menu and great pies! This place is a treasure for our Beacon Hill community. Good food. Good prices. Good service. Its all good!
Awesome place for all 3 meals, but we often dine in or order takeout for breakfast/brunch. Great diner-style coffee too! Staff is wonderful, esp Àngel and Tijana, and a few others whose names I cannot remember. They are very attentive and friendly. Kitchen and grill are exposed, which is nice as you can see everything. So glad they are open again for 24/7 for sleepless nights and/or early mornings!
First off the Diner was Spic and Span Clean. Our server was just awesome ??. My wife and I had just got off a train at Alexandria Virginia Amtrak station. We Got in our Rental Car to go search for a Hearty Dinner after a Day of Train Travels and low and behold we Drive right by on our way to Baltimore for Late Dinner. I spied with my eye Bob & Edith's Diner off the side of the Road. It called to me/ us like a moth to flame. After asking a few questions about the Menu which our server Gracefully answered in Precise detail, I ordered the Hamburger Deluxe with 2 Sides Chalkboard Special. My wife had the Fried Chicken. Needless to say Huntington Virginia has a Gem of a Diner. Food was Hit Fresh and Delicious. Thank you all at Bob and Edith's Diner. Even bought a T Shirt to take home to show off back in California
This place is a staple in NoVA and I have enjoyed coming for breakfast on many occasions. Not sure why or when the switch happened, but they are now making their omelets with American Cheese instead of cheddar ??. Highly recommend the blueberry pancake
Went for lunch on a weekday the week before Christmas maybe that's why it was so crowded. You're supposed to seat yourself which sounds nice but requires the staff to notice that you just sat down. It took 5 min for them to clean the table we claimed (only one available at the time). The waiter came and took our drink order about 5 min after that BUT didn't ever come back with our juice and coffee. We waited 13 min (after he took our drink order) before we got up and left. We just figured if it took that long to take our drink order how long would it take to make and bring our food? Not a great experience.I've eaten at the one on Columbia Pike in Arlington a few times and the food was really good. It's a mix between good ole home cooking and a greasy spoon type of place. I'll try it again but the experience was not great this last time/first time at this location.
My wife, son and I went to this location this past Saturday to enjoy a breakfast. We have been at this location at least 5 other times. Our server messed up our order really bad. No apology, no nothing. We just sat there for an entire hour waiting for the wrong food. We did not touch our plates, and were charged for the entire meal. The manager came to our table and asked us to come back for a complementary meal. Well, we went back today, just to feel so embarrassed. The manager on duty would not compliment our meals and asked us basically to pay for what we had by bringing the receipt to the table. She said she had no idea what the other manager had said to us and that she tried calling but he didn't answer. It really felt to me like she did not believe my story even though I showed her the receipt. I honestly felt that I was discriminated against. Like my words did not have any value. The server was there she remembered us but did nothing to help the situation. If anything it seemed like she was enjoying the situation quite a bit. Just go to the Columbia Pike location, you won't be missing anything here.
