Friday night's are nice if you like to dance!
Stopped here to meet up with a friend. Weekday night, so it wasn't busy and sat at the bar. Bartender was a nice guy. Grabbed some pork belly bites and gumbo, which were ok. Nice enough place to hang out, but decided to go upstairs to the Basin St. Lounge to listen to some music.
Loved the place. Small underground place, that turns into a dancing floor with good music, disco ball and lights. At first entry you wouldn't guess the place for such a vibe, it was a bit quiet with tables around the place and bar chairs. I'm not sure about the time but they take the tables on the floor out and a dj comes with great all time favs and current hits. The only upside is it is a smoking bar so basically you have to be a smoker or a person who doesn't mind the smell as almost everyone smokes inside. Might go once just for the music and dance but the smoke is too much for a non-smoker.
Came in with my friends and was asked to pay the check after the first round of drinks even after giving him the credit card to hold. We asked why the other people in the room who were white were not being asked to pay for each round. He said that that it is for everyone yet we were the only ones being asked to do that. We saw him go up to the white people after that and it sounded like he was asking them to pretend as if they were being asked to do the same thing. We left right away.
Just swung in for a beer and a giant buttery pretzel. I finished the beer(s), but couldn't down pretzel.
It was happening. Great dancing music.
Cigar lounge, great atmosphere and selections. A little tardy with the service but i guess the bartender had to do multiple things at once, so I'll hold judgement
Well its nice to see that this place hasn't changed that much looks like they still get the same self centered selfish little brats that think the world revolves around them news flash it doesn't and never will. Heck I am surprised this place is even still in business. Per one of the comments in here just to let you know from a former DJ the DJ is not there just for you and he or she is not playing just for you either. And just because you tip a DJ doesn't mean they have to play every song you request news flash they don't. If you don't like the music instead of whining or complaining about it just leave and go somewhere else don't ruin it for everyone else that's there. Again just cause you might tip the DJ doesn't mean you control what the DJ plays the rest of the night cause you don't. Frankly I feel sorry for any DJ that plays in there I use to go there back in the day until I moved from that area and I would see hear how some of the people there would talk treat the DJs that were playing there and me being a former DJ it was pretty disgusting at times. But if you were ever to go there and see the place you could understand why it attracts people like that not exactly an upscale place by any means. Any who for the DJ or DJs that are playing there now good luck I wish you the best. When I was DJing the clubs I use to play at the crowd did not have access to you no requests allowed and the people were there to enjoy the music times have defiantly changed and not for the better in some ways unfortunately.
Fun play good drinks and music
They don’t respect the peopleI live in Alexandria!I don’t recommend this place!
